Columbus Radio-Wrong Language

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a MK2 FL MY11 Octavia estate, and his Columbus radio, one day, just changed language to German.   But he doesn't speak German, and we are in England.    Anyway, he can select English in the menu on the radio, but alas, there is no English available on the radio. All the other languages appear to load fine, just not English.

Everything in his dash display is in English

Local garage can't help, as they say it needs a disk which is apparently very expensive, and don't have it.    Obviously, he doesn't want to spend a lot of money to sort it out, so I was wondering if any of you TECH people could help with a solution,  Please.

Hope someone can help him.   He is in Clacton on Sea, Essex.

Thanks All.

It's probably a software corruption, possibly a hard drive failure, maybe a mainboard failure.

I could most likely repair it here, but that's North Yorks which is a fair old drive. There's possibilities if it's software related (like reloading as the garage have said)  but even then it's going to need VCDS to recode the unit afterwards I think. Note, this isn't a maps disc reload, it's the units software.
