Hi... If you want Bluetooth you have to add a separate unit so more cost againDiscover navigation (MIB 2) - latest and greatest, nav isn't as good as the 510's layout but the search functionality and responsiveness make up for it. Built in Bluetooth and WiFi (for connecting to your phone to leach internet if you want more info on poi's
Expensive as CP (component protection) is a pain and only specialists can offer you a hacked unit. I'm currently working on retrofitting this to my mk6 golf which should never get. Further cost if you have a rvc (different input not rewireable) parking system requires a pla3.0 unit and if you have 3D clocks you need a filter.

So, I got one of these, but the bloke I went to couldn't program it as it was reporting as incompatible with my car.

He still charged me, so I'm £50 out of pockets, have to return this Cam unit, and still left with a chronic battery issue 😞

Can anyone confirm that the can bus unit 7N0 907 530 AG should work with a 2006 plate please?

The guy who tried to code it said the functionality was different and it said it was incompatible with the vehicle, but I'm a bit skeptical about his level of knowledge.

the issue is (I think) that the new unit 3 bytes and not 6 bytes like the original.

Pretty sure it'll be fine.

You'll need to create a suitable 3 byte code by looking at the bit descriptions or take an example one from another MK2 as a base. You'll then need to make sure the installation list is correct.

Thanks, I don't have the output from the old CAN Bus unit, but I do have the code that was generated, is that what I need to use to create the 3-byte one?

Are there any online resources/guide for doing this.

I'm beginning to think that the guy I went to had little idea what he was doing, at least not "outside the box"!

Nope, just use the bit descriptions for the 3 byte code, it should be pretty clear when you get in there with VCDS. At a guess it'll be 351303 for a hatchback or 351203 for an estate.

The installation list will be more complex as it'll depend what modules you have installed. Still, should be easy enough as the autoscan will tell you which modules either aren't registered (add them) or not responding (remove them). The only exception is probably the radio (address 56) that you'll need to keep for an aftermarket radio to work.

You can probably work it out from the old 6 byte code but you shouldn't need to.

Thanks. It's an estate.

Now I just need to find someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to VCDS, as the fella I went to didn't have a clue how to program the new unit, he told me it was incompatible
