Fault in central locking or interior monitor

Featured Replies

I think I've diagnosed a fault with the interior monitoring system on my 2007 Octavia. The Owner's Manual, page 46, says "If the indicator light first of all flashes fast for about 2 seconds, afterwards lights up for about 30 seconds and then flashes slowly, there is a fault in the system of the central locking or the interior monitor". The light was certainly on for a long time although I didn't time it.

A bit of background. I locked the car from the key fob remote and then, because my dog was still in the car, I pressed the lock button a second time to deactivate the interior monitoring system. When I returned to the car, the car would not respond to the key fob remote unlock button although I was able to release the tailgate with the remote button.

The manual goes on to say that I should "Contact a specialist garage to obtain assistance".

Before I go down that route, does anyone have any ideas why this should have suddenly happened or have any ideas on maybe resetting the system?

TIA - Stuart

Possible keyfob needs new battery/local signal interference.

Check to see if your car has a button on driver's B pillar to deactivate interior motion sensing.

I thought fob battery at first so I tried my spare when I got home. Same problem.

There is a button on the B pillar but I'm assuming that it was deactivated when the fault first occurred anyway.

I was wondering whether a long press might reset the system.

It's stopped snowing now so I'll and try a few things in a bit, just wanted to see if anyone had experienced similar.

Narrowed it down, Appears to be the unlocking button on the remote. The spare remote does nothing so I guess a battery swap and see how it goes...

I'm sure the keys can be disassembled and the button contacts cleaned.

I'll try this, thanks.
