Very nice Michael. Just walked past it with the dog. Bet your neighbour with the Alteca is as jealous as me! Looks so much better than the Seat. Were the grandkids impressed? How much of an improvement on ride quality is it over the Yeti? It seemed quite a bit better to me on the test drive but I was in an edition on 19” wheels around town. York and back should have given you a good feel for it.

Cheers Nem

Haven't seen him yet. Grandkids interested for about 5 seconds flat then switched onto buying more tat from the Castle Museum ;)

Lovin the ride. Seems more planted, somehow. They are different cars. Our Yetis served us well for a specific purpose (camping) but we've jacked that in and were ready for a change. For what's effectively the "lowest" spec possible the Karoq feels more refined. Today we went over to friends in Ilkley. He's just got a new e-Golf and couldn't see what his extra 10 grand had got him :D Then on for lunch at Smiths Arms Beckwithshaw to celebrate our new car.

Whitby tomorrow. Still got a box full of the bits to swap over but it's sooooo parky.

You must be very local then. When's your car due? Quite a few Yetis now in Baildon.  Maybe Karoqs will be the same. Someone said they'd seen one in the Ian Clough carpark but we though it was maybe a Kodiaq.

  • Congrats Michael!! Looks very nice. Great pics, thats a shiny motor.    I remember washing our new works van every week. After 13 years it gets washed just once a year - before its MOT. I ki

  • Great. I will recommend our dealer to introduce this in DK. Buying a car is often big investment / decision your are looking forward to drive home, so your way of handing the car over is just fine

Hi Michael,

Mines a black Yeti on a 62 plate. Out of your street left, second left, left up the hill and left again B.R.

Glad and your enjoying it, not got a build week yet, I’m hoping mid July. Ordered it mid March. Might even get the digital dash.

Wrap up warm!

Got it. Mrs G works at Dacres 2 days a week, says she's seen a couple of Yetis up BR. We were on Westmoor A but it was a right money pit and we wanted something smaller as there's only the two of us now.

My friend with the e-Golf has the digi dash. Obviously it's totally customisable, but the standard now on Karoq looks very similar because of the sheer front.

Small world eh? :D

Certainly normal at our dealer. They did the same with our previous car, a Yeti. I think most Skoda UK dealers do something similar. All the showrooms seem to look the same and they have the space.

Don't they do it in DK Janse?

Didn't do it at my dealer, but the premises are pretty old and they don't really have the space.

Had it with my Audi A6 estate, sorry Avant, but not with my TT that I bought about a year later. I think there was an RS6 in the handover area!

Ours is one off the big glass and steel emporiums they mostly are these days, but I suspect even they need to spread out the handovers. Each one takes an hour. Our car was registered the week before they said it had arrived, so I think they were keeping schtum they'd got it while they worked their way through the other 18 plates.

Snowy and rainy yesterday, so contented myself programming the radio and setting up the DAB/FM station icons. Got the phones so that they both connect on BT, and imported contacts and pics. For one who's a sucker for shiny and new, I do like stuff to look like it did before :D

Weather still cr*p so just more fiddling.

Short RH USB A to RH USB C arrived, bit too thick and rigid to go straight across, but OK in a 69 orientation. Both phones fit with the cover closed. Great for Android Auto.

Rain stopped play then, just as Postman Pat turned up with my double sided boot mat (Karoq with spare, and fixed rear seats) Thanks Mike

I only did it to put some blue in the washer bottle, seeing it was full of a suspiciously clear liquid ;)

Congrats - it looks very nice in black. Mine is energy blue and a lease. If I was buying though I’d be very interested in Black.

Had mine in the motorway today  for a couple of hours. It’s fine - but not very economical. As you would expect the little motor is working very hard.

What consumption were you getting on the motorway? Just agonising over 1 or 1.5 to lease. The 1.5 is quite a bit more

Can't speak for Steve. Ours has been mainly pottering in the village, and of course, it's not loosened up yet.

Happy so far (crap pic, sorry):

Got a 1.5 dsg at the moment on demo, and with the drive 75 % motorway I'm not getting much more than 37 38.

It's really nice to see the inside a bit, thanks. I'm planning on doing the same with the android auto and a angled usb connector. I'll get to try for real tomorrow!

I only got around 36mpg on the motorway on a trip of 150 miles...round town I’m getting between 30 and 33...

That seems not much worse (is that bad grammar?) Than what I've been getting on the 1.5 demo,  and it mirrors a similar minor difference in the inflated Skoda figures. Is it noisy at motorway speed (engine wise)?

Terry

Does it feel as powerful as the Yeti, when accelerating on a dual carriageway for example? ( still can't get my head round 1.0 in a vehicle that size). And is it as quiet?

For me, quieter. But that's brand new, compared to our two yr old Yeti, and before that, a five year old Yeti.

I'm not a petrol head and don't have the specs to hand. We were told the newer 1.0 puts out similar to the 9 yr old ( at least) 1.2 engine. I'm treating it very gently so far, so no experience flooring it.

Sounds good, look forward to hearing more about its performance.

You guys must be really caning it to get low consumption !

I drive one hour a day to work LOTS of stop/start traffic and I can get 35mpg in my 1.5 DSG, with the kids on holiday this week the traffic has been easier and I've been getting low to mid 40's !!

Still running it in, but it's pretty nippy without even taking it over 3,500rpm :)

40.7 on mine. I'm happy with that:thumbup:

I’m not caning it - take the 300 motorway miles off and it’s all short start stop journeys.
