HI ALL

I have a dtuk tuning box installed on my mk3 octavia vrs

My car kept coming up with an error saying "check acc, start stop not working" followed by the EPC light showing and I would lose all my power, which is really scary when on motorway. I took my car to the dealer and they said my fuel pump was leaking. Long story short I got it replaced under warranty.

But still I am receiving this error? Could this be caused by the tuning box? Only seems to be when booting it. Restarting the car seems to clear the error and everything fine after. Doesn't happen all of the time tho.

Any help or advise would be appreciated

Many thanks

It can be!

Mid you have put the power setting up too high it could cause these issues. It causednit on my mk7 Golf gtd.

Put the settings back to the standard setting that it came on when delivered and try that.

take the box off.

Boot the car

Does it happen?

If everything is fine it's the stupid box.

When I first installed mine on my vrs tdi, I tried each and every option on the plus scale, just to see what the difference was.

I found on any initial map setting (red, amber or green light) if I put it on to the 3rd stage on the plus scale, I'd get the error messages coming up.

However keeping it on the 2nd stage on the plus scale doesn't cause any issues.

It's just a learning curve to find out what your car can sit happy with

mine does it when turned to max. defo the box. start stop was the first to play up.

put the blank plug in and test.

Errrrr. you can turn the box off instead of using the blanking plug.

Sound like you guys are being a little greedy in colder/damper conditions, mine chucks a up a EPC @ 6-3/4k revs when running in cold/damp weather hence, I change gear earlier

If everything is fine with box off, it does not necessarily mean that its the box fault, and not the car, since the box just amplifies everything, possibly exposing car weak points, ready to fail soon.

true, i couldnt remember the way to do it off top my head. takes 5 seconds to unplug/plug, and you know its deff not doing anything.

makes bugger all difference with mine if its cold or not. I very rarely get a light. However if I boot it you can bet my start/stop will fail.

Trouble is we all could have different maps. There are a few different versions. I'm on the most agressive (on my box) and +3. Just a stop gap still I have a proper map. the start stop doesnt bother me.

Thanks for reply

I was running 1+1 So I have now turned it onto program 3 which feels much smoother in its power delivery and not so aggressive

I took the box of for warranty work, so only had it off for a few days. And didnt recieve no errors. Since I had the error 2 days ago it has not come back on as of yet.

I'm must admit I was taking it right around to 6k/6.5k but shortly after slowing down the error appeared

Perhaps if it isn't mapped via the ECU, it might throw up errors at the extreme edge of throttle demand as the DTUK box 'tricks' the system.

No worries have had 2 of the boxes from them now. My previous GTD was very sensitive to the maps and had to have it on a specific one to get the most out of it. Glad it helped.

Take it off go get a decent proven map, take it to a dealer that understands for any servicing. If you are worried about warantee they will still be able to trace a box if the warantee work is gonna cost them !!

Tracing a tuning box costs OEM's serious money so, they Don't do it till they are facing £3-4k of work at least.

i've had plenty of cars mapped, diesel and petrol and a decent tuning box like the one from DTUK is every bit as good. I've had several clio sports and was told yes we can get an extra 80 hp but you will get problems so it was dialled back. Pushing this tuning box to any map+3 will likely as not give you problems. I'm on 2+2, where 2+3 will throw errors, that's the whole point of being able to adjust it, some cars can handle it some cant.
