Question about EGR !

Featured Replies

Hello ! Before I ask I would like to let you know that I just started learning about remapping and so on and I still don't know pretty much anything. I want to talk about Fabia mk1 with engine : VW 1.4 16v 101hp petrol . Is there a way EGR to be turned off by software only. I saw people doing it with VAGsuite but only with TDI engines. I want to know if that can be done with the engine I mentioned. Btw the EGR valve is stuck and it's not working. If someone has experienced this already I would appreciate any help or explanations . Thanks in advance !

No, the EGR is essential to this engine, you cannot map it out, in fact you cannot remap this engine at at because it doesn't have a Bosch ECU.

Replace the EGR valve, clean out the entire intake and breather system then reset the ECU and adapt the new EGR valve.

Or just drive it.

Thanks for the reply ! That will help me a lot.

We have this engine in our 02 polo, the feed pipe from the EGR sometimes gets clogged where the rear end of the EGR pipe sticks out into the intake manifold, ours is an AUB engine.

I removed the Throttle Body (unshipped only - I did not elec unplug it) and placed the TB in a plastic tray, cleaned out the TB in situ, and then cleaned out the EGR pipe which sticks up into the inlet manifold.I had placed some rags into the inlet manifiold to stop any carb cleaner/dirt going inside,I cleaned out the feed pipe end with carb cleaner and some pipe cleaners/small bottle brushes.

I borrowed this pic from Taylor93 on Briskoda

Just to add to above,I am not sure if you can really do much with the AUB type engine,it needs 98 RON fuel to operate happily and seems to be sensitive to spark plug types.

We are currently (mostly) running our Polo on Tesco Momentum 99,the car seems happy with the tesco 99 and it is a bit cheaper than the branded fuels.
