Currently have custody of a work Leon ST FR - end of lease purchase and now replaced, been tasked with selling it.

 

I've been driving it the last couple of days and noticed the headlight switch had the chrome bit on the knob...

 

I knew some have swapped for other switches, but never could be bothered to pay for one 

 

Anyway, the switch itself is a 2 minute job to swap - twist knob to the 'off' position, and push inwards. Then a slight twist will release the whole unit. Undo the connector on the back, and you have this:

 

 

The backlighting for the Leon is red, the Octavia is green. To sort this, undo the clips (4 I think) on the back of both switches using a small flat head screwdriver:

 

 

Then seperate the circuit board, and swap them over:

Nice plan. Might have to get myself a green backlight for the Citigo to replace the red one in there now!!

Currently on green door ambient lighting fancied a change from the red I had selected for the first 6 months. Changes the background colour of the maxidot and 8" sat nav screen to green also.

Always hated Octavia didnn't get the chrome switch.

There is an easier way if you don't fancy the faff, though it's probably more expensive unless you can find a used one. The L & K has a chrome switch as standard with green backlighting. Probably the most expensive bit of chrome ever at £52 quid but looks much better!

I think the window switch on the driver's door is the same in the Leon with chrome ends but red backlighting. Can swap that over too and swap the circuit boards for the backlighting. Unfortunately the other 3 door switches are different and I never found a chrome alternative to what we already have.

 

There's also a chrome knob (oo err) for the mirror adjuster that adds a nice touch.

I realise you may have meant the L&K, just posting this so anyone reading it doesn't go and order the Leon item!

Apologies post was written quickly on my phone. The mirror knob should work, it literally just pulls off  but the Leon one doesn't offer anything over the standard Octavia one. Golf one is better there as it has a chrome surround.

 

For the window switch it can be swapped on so you have the chrome tips - but yes I agree quite a faff just for chrome tips.

So not only did I get the chrome key fob section I also got chrome bits on all my switches...& they look nice...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mind you they were standard spec on my Golf MK7 GT.....
