Continental Premium Contact 6 for Mk2 vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just suffered a very negative experience with BlackCircles today. I ordered a pair of Sport Contact 5 Xtra Loads to replace the fronts on my vRS (225/45R17). I presented my car at the right time and went off to go about my business while they were fitted. 20 minutes later, I get a call from the fitter saying they were very sorry and they had searched the whole building but didn't have the tyres. BlackCircles have changed the system fitters use. The fitter is supposed to acknowledge receipt of the tyres and, if they failed to do so, an exception was thrown. If the fitter doesn't mark the tyres as arrived, the new system automatically marks them as having been received, assuming the fitter has forgotten to mark their receipt, rather than assuming they haven't been received, as in this case. They say they don't know where they are.

I now have a rather strange email from BC saying that my fitting has been delayed 24 hours and the tyres will be delivered on Monday. Has the weekend ceased to exist and nobody told me?

I asked if the fitter if they could supply them. They called Continental who said the Sport Contact 5 has been discontinued and they don't have any more. They said I should buy the Premium Contact 6 Xtra Load instead and they are superior in every way to the Sport Contact 5. Has anyone tried the Premium Contact 6 on a vRS or do you have an opinion on them please? I'm a little confused why they recommended the PC6 as the Sport Contact 6 now exists.

Edit: I can't seem to find the Sport Contact 6 in 225/45 R17. Is it only available in ultra low profiles for very wide rims?

Thanks,

Paul.
