If you have a car that comes with a MIB2.5 and you know the coding changes to do then you can do it at home. Pawel did extensive rework on my radio to take it from MIB2 to MIB2.5 spec and it’s perfect, unless you took it out to see the part number you would never know it wasn’t a MIB2.5. I had to use a scan from another members car to sort the VC out fully and the same would be true of the radio.

AID = VC can be run with MIB2.5 Columbus (5650350xx), MIB2 Columbus (3V00350xx, requires SW update) and Amundsen 5Q00358x6C (probably also 5Q00358x4B but I have not checke dit yet). In Columbus units you may have maps on bot VC and LCD at the same time, with Amundsen only either here or there.

If you fit VC and rear door sill protectors, fit a private plate (no year I.D.) you can tell people you drive a CHALLENGE Vrs245 Special edition (as you already have DCC).

I looked at a private plate recently then remembered every time I see one I think **** so, didn't bother

The Columbus I have lists the following details...
Device part number: 3V0035045B
Hardware: H50
Software: 0318

What is the software update you mentioned above, and is that all that's needed to get the virtual cockpit working with it?

Update to SW 1233 plus coding and you got it working  Or rework to MIB2 565035021B (but then you need also new 9.2 inch display)

Can I just go straight from SW 0318 to SW 1233 or do I need to update to an in between version first?

Where can I get SW 1233 from?

What is involved in reworking to 565035021B (other than getting the 9.2" screen)?

I highly recommend Pawel’s work as always and he has excelled himself with my unit which is a MIB2 converted to MIB2.5 spec running 1163 firmware. I love it so much and it transformed the car.

Is yours an MIB2 or MIB2.5?

The MIB2 doesn't support streaming of maps to the VC. You need an MIB2.5 for the maps to work properly.

I have a 2019 VRS with virtual cockpit but can’t get it to display the sat nav map on both screens, only on one screen at a time

 

Does anyone know if this is a feature of the current model or am I missing something?
