I love my new Virtual Cockpit ..

Featured Replies

Perhaps you know if the Virtual cockpit retrofit would work with Bolero infotainment? Without maps is just fine for me, just be working fine without troubles...

It will indeed just with no maps. Will even work with a MIB1 and you will get the normal CAN signals for directions arrows etc but not the map which is transmitted via MOST.

Thanks @SashaGrace

On a generic outline, would it be enough to dismount old dials, mount the new VC and code it with OBDeleven? Or there are more steps involved for the keys and any other config?

With Bolero won't need to hook the fiber optic, so I guess will be just connecting the main connector.

Any suggestion on what to be aware or watch out for to make all process fast and easy?

As this is a crucial function in car, don't like to mess up keys or having wrong info on display...

You can’t code with OBDEleven, you have to have good experience with ODIS-E with online connection to VAG servers. You will need this for keys, mileage, immo, steering angle sensors and ABS and the finer points can be done with OBDEleven/VCDS :)

Or you can ask the young lady to do it for you, as I believe she is quite a whiz with such technology.

Does your Virtual Speedo tell you what type of oil to use when you need a top up, or does it say refer to Internet Experts (debatable)?:bandit:

Talking about dodgy things time that beard got a serious trim might be all sorts of Fuchs in there.:tongueout:

My beard & tache is now thinning and grey... 🙁

But my head is still shaved daily and my ears are now back to 12mm.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but it's possible to activate album cover, radio station & call picture icons:

5F  /  Adaptations

ENG122230-ENG122341-Dashboard_Display_Configuration-coverart - 'OFF' to 'On'

ENG122230-ENG122342-Dashboard_Display_Configuration-stationart - 'OFF' to 'On'

ENG122230-ENG122343-Dashboard_Display_Configuration-call_picture - 'OFF' to 'On' (needs 'Security Access' code 20103)

If coding not accepted change this first:

17  /  Adaptations

IDE13094-Tachometer end value - 'Version 0' to 'Version 4'

You need to have either VCDS OR OBD11.

Are they not all like that? My Columbus was coded like that matched from factory coding.

Changing the ambient light colour requires an FL BCM with ambient lighting support.

Mine is a factory fitted Bolero + virtual cockpit. There are no logos by default.

I believe you can tweak it with:

Display Farbabgleich

And vary the RGB values.

I think Sasha can probably verify that.

Only if you have a BCM that supports it which the PFL doesn’t.

Oh, it's disabled in the Bolero then. I am wondering if it’s enabled in the Amundsen. :)

You also need to have the optical cable to view the images and album art. Does Bolero + VC has optical cable?

This is needed usually when Navigation is present. This is why Bolero did not had the option activated.

:shake:                      I have the VC with the Amundsen unit, The only Main colour I get in the VC is Red.

Is it possible to program the VC colours it match the same as the background lighting in the doors ( Led Strips )

I mean the logos are disabled from the factory in my Bolero.

I can change the VC colors in the headunit menu (also together with the door led strips), no problem with that.

I have no idea about the optical cable but I managed to activate the small images. Call picture also works, tested today with my better half’s phone.

Cannot find these in the adaption menu with OBDeleven.  Are they in any submenus?

You can see if you have optical cable installed checking in 5F module - > Long Coding - > Byte 22 ->  Dashboard Graphic Variant - Most or CAN. Most is for Optical Cable.

That 3rd display I really don't see what the point of it is, I have it, but never use it.

It also annoys me that the stupid thing won't stay on the display that you left it on. 😠

It is enabled in the Amundsen! My MY20 Octavia has the Amundsen and the VC, and I have radio-logos and so on.

But another thing that´s weird is that I can´t have the map on the VC AND the infotainment-screen at the same time! I have seen people here having that, I can only switch between either of them.

TheWanderer:

Strange - my VC stays on the view I left it on.
