  • I used similar to this its self adhesive so you just stick it alongside the original seal its quite soft so fills any gaps easily. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4M-Car-Door-D-Shape-Seal-Strip-Edge-Protec

My Kodiaq and Superb are the same.

Superb? Does the rear door form paet of the wheel arch on the Superb too?

My comment was in response to the one directly above it.

The door seal that separates the interior and exterior is quite some way away from the doors leading edge, resulting in a build up of dirt around all four doors, often requiring a wipe with a sponge when the car gets particularly dirty.

Does anyone know how these "inferior" seals on the rear doors are actually connected to the door metal?  I noticed that one of mine is starting to hang off at the top on one side.  It looks to me like its just stuck on with some double sided tape or some glue of some sort as its still a bit tacky. I would like to know if there are any insertion points/pinch points etc. so that when I pull it off to clean it all up and then re-apply it with some new tape I don't tear it and break it.

Thanks

Paul

Hello,

mine is a MY2021 and I have been washing it today and the reardoors was very dirty all over these seals. Shame on you Skoda

I've just had both of these seals replaced on my 69 plate under warranty

Just bought a new Karoq after 2 Yetis. Both had the paint blistering and rubber seal issues on the doors.  Zinc inclusions caused the blistering.  There's a top to bottom rubber seal between the front and rear doors.  The build up of general dirt and grime on the seal has an abrasive effect on the bottom corner of the front door.  That results in paint removal and rust.  It looks like history repeating itself on the Karoq.  Hope not.  Come on Skoda read the forums !

@JossyB

Put it in writing to your Skoda Dealer for them to put in a report to Skoda and do the same with Skoda UK Customer Services.

The more that do that the less likely they will be able to say,  'We have never heard of that before',  or 'They all do that'.

Both of those are the 'Simply Clever' things told to customers over many issues, snagging faults and Fundamental Design & Manufacturing faults that go from model to model and from the first generations to the next ones.

Dealership have Demonstrators, perk cars that employees drive, and used cars come in and the cars get washed by the car washing staff you must see the issue if they work with their eyes open..

Do they look any different? i.e. any beefier or that they might actually do the job they were intended to do. I haven’t seen saggy door seals since the mk2 cortina...

I added some extra "D" section rubber seal to run parallel with the existing seal on the door edge as the original seal just doesn`t seal completely against the arch to stop the wheel arch dirt being blasted through into the door.

A very poor design by Skoda at this point as they may have designated that part of the door a wet  area but wet dirt and grit is a wonderful abrasive medium to gradually wear paint away.

I also own an RX-8 and on early versions a similar problem arose where the back door seals met the sill, wet dirt and grit was getting past the lower door seal then soon wearing the paint away - result rusty sills, Mazda redesigned the seals.

How did you fit the D section rubber seal? Does it clip on or adhesive tape? Would like to do the same on mine if I knew where you sourced the rubber seal?

I haven`t cleaned inside the door for several weeks and have been on some mucky wet roads but you can see the dirt on the first seal but not much has got past the new piece of seal
