What is this

Featured Replies

Luckily I have not had to use it but what is it used for? I found it in the 'toolkit' next to the fuse puller. Cheers

You poke it behind the plastic wheel nut caps and pull. Removes the caps.

?

Was it a 'fuse puller' you found or the tweezers for removing the wheel nut covers.    The fuse puller should be beside the fuses.

The thing shown which i have never had is for removing the cover of the Tow Hook i thought.  Probably wrong though.

As said already, to remove wheel bolt covers on cars with a hole in the centre of these covers, also anything else that needs removing and have a hole in it or not - like maybe fog light surrounds.

Definitely not to be used for picking your nose(sorry).

It is the nut puller I meant. You can see it in the photo seated in its recess. It may be used for something which is not fitted to my model. Got a service on Thursday when I will ask the dealer.

I thought it was for pulling off the plastic caps off the wheel nuts.

Might only be on some types of alloys

As others have said, the black plastic "tweezery" thing is for pulling the plastic caps off wheel nuts.

I think the silver metal "hooky" thing is for pulling the trims off steel wheels fitted to some base models.

Next picture, use the metal hoop to pull the thing you are talking about out of its storage area so that we can see it properly.

Confused now.

Is the question regarding the locking / security nut socket to remove a locking nut from each wheel?

Required to get wheels off!

Its a tool for removing plastic wheel covers on steel wheels.  You slip it through the cover and holding the finger loop, pull until the cover is loosened or comes off. You might need to go round the wheel a few times to loosen them with ease.

But I thought that had been dismissed as not being the tool that the OP was asking about?

The chrome item as shown in picture - what is the purpose of it?  Seems as if nobody has used it.

It has several uses.

To pull hub caps off which have a small hole in them.

To pull towing eye covers out of the bumper if they have a small hole.

To pull light cluster parts off if they have a small hole.

Remove the plastic cover inside the front wheel arch liner to change a bulb, if it has a small hole.

Front fog light trim removal puller if it has a small hole.

So it is a multi purpose puller.

It depends on what your car has, as to what you use it for.

Thanks AG Falco

I have one in my car and my understanding is it's a tool to remove the centre caps from wheels, or to pull hub caps off which have a small hole in them.  See this vid: http://www.vwgenuineparts.co.uk/vw_wheel_nut_cap_removal.shtml As above post it has many other uses too, I've used it to remove plastic wheel trims and fog light covers (to access towing eye).

I have (up until this year) a separate U-shaped tweezer tool to remove wheel nut covers. I lost it whilst changing wheels, anyone know where I can buy one from?
