Front Bumper Lower Centre Grille

Featured Replies

Is anyone able to share with me, how to remove the lower centre grille on the front bumper?

the grille below the number plate area.  not the one above.

it is not broken or anything, rather it is for a "project" i have in mind.

i'm hoping i can just "yank" it out without having the need to remove the entire front bumper.

The specific part is labelled #14 in the picture below.

From the diagram you provided, it looks like plastic clips.  Can your nearest dealer not show you?

It would appear, that you need to come at it from the inside of the bumper though, so may require a bumper removal.  Can you get under with a torch to have a look?

I've never done this, and going purely on the diagram so I'm sorry if my info is completely useless :)

Dealer won't have a clue.

Service centre, VW, will charge me "to take a look"!!

Can't look under and behind without removing the underbody tray.

Remove the two access panels (15 on the diag), as if you were gaining access to the fog lights.  They just pull out with a sharp tug.

That should hopefully give you a better view of how the lower centre panel is secured.

I had a cracked grille and the bumper has to come off .

It has to come out through the back of the bumper.
