I was wondering if it is possible to increase the length adjustment on the the steering column and or the pedal distance?

The car is big but there isn't quite enough room for the driver in my opinion.  I am starting to get a bit of knee ache etc as i can't sit far enough away from the pedals.

I have got the steering wheel column at maximum distance out, I have had  the seat at all different positions, high, low, front up, steering wheel down etc.

When I reset every the other day ,using a link on here I couldn't reach the steering wheel very well.... I find myself reaching for the wheel.

I am an average person, 5'10" with normal length limbs.....

I’m surprised you don’t feel there is enough room.  I’m 6’ 4” and found there was a little too much room.  On mine I had the wheel all the way out and slightly down.  My L&K had electrically adjusted seats as I found that the other versions did not offer the fine adjustment capability that electric seats offer - so may be that is the issue?

Changing the steering column would probably do something ‘not permitted’ and promptly invalidate type approval knowing how the current regs seem to be written!

I have electric seats, I fine adjust them every day.

So you can drape your hands over the top of the wheel on your wrists?

I feel like I am sitting on the car rather than in it.

My Octavia was great and I was never set at any maximums

I could drape my hands over the wheel at the wrist, yes.  The car has gone now so I can’t recheck exactly what I had, but the seat base was up at the back and lower at the front and about two inches forward of fully aft.  It did take me a while to get it exactly right though.

One thing to note is that if you use the memory setting for the seat, it moves slightly forwards when you unlock the car. It isn’t possible to store the rearmost setting.

One thing I don’t like is the footrest for the left foot. I find it’s too close and gives me a pain in the back of my leg. When I remember, I move my foot forward beyond the footrest, but the angle of the floor is a bit too steep for comfort.

Sounds very odd, then again my friend is just over six foot and always has the seat right back as far as it will go because he is such a slouch.

For some reason he constantly complains about back ache.

Cause and effect, not surprising

I am 6ft1 and Although my left knee (we have a DSG box) rests against the side of the footwell - I feel theres plenty of room for adjustment of steering and seat.  I found that if you raise the front of the seat, and lower the rear, after setting the seat laterally and setting the seat back appropriately, you should feel more "in" the car.  I don't mind sitting "on" the car as its not a sports car so won't be driven the way in which you get thrown around.

The only other way is dropping the seat all the way down, which makes the car feel massive IMO.
