Remap Options for 2.0T FSI

Featured Replies

The current options for consideration are:-

Custom Code (currently favoured option but have no experience of them.)

REVO (had before on last car but not overly impressed with recent dealings!)

AMD (looks good but expensive.)

I am particularly interested in anyone thats already re-mapped or is in the process of getting a re-map for the 2.0T FSI engine.

Are there any others that I have not listed that are worth considering?.

I know Jabba have mapped an A4 2.0T FSI...gets approx same as a mapped 1.8T....apparently.

Not sure if IP have done any yet but I'm sure the codes there.

To all intents purposes CC is apparently quite good...just make sure you go to a reputable dealer.....can talk further at mini meet if you like.

Although I have no experience with any of the remaps that you suggest I would go for Custom Code if was my car. Looking at the impressive dyno graphs that others have obtained with the 1.8T I would say that the 2.0T FSI would be more of the same ... Some of this   and lots of this :D :D :D

Another tuner to consider would be Impossible Performance (assuming that they can re-map the 2.0T FSI - I don't know if they can) as many seem to be impressed with their re-mapped 1.8T

Steve, give Gerry (beretta) a shout if you want more info on IP ;)

Or Delcac, DaveU, AndyCCr, Wayne Kerr we all run IP.

Is it IP who do Upsolute chip and if so does that mean the ecu is replaced or meddled with?.

Meddled with ????????????????????

All remaps require the ECU to be altered, or meddled with as you say, for how else can you alter the values within ?????

It is loaded via the serial port and the ECU is not opened or removed.

AMD have remapped a 2.0T FSI Golf. Very impressive by all accounts.

APR and Awesome have just done a couple of Golf GTI MkV's and the results are very encouraging, II RC they have got around 240bhp with oodles of low down torque, I am running APR Stage 2 on my 03 Octy vrs and it is VERY good, super smooth power delivery!

IP still do Upsolute but they now also have serial port code remapping.....IIRC. I'm sure Des can confirm.

If this is the case they won't touch the ECU.

For Upsolute you use to have the EPPROM inside the ECU changed.

As in my earlier post, it is loaded via the serial port, and I can confirm this as mine was loaded in this way.

Thought VW/Audi had gone all out to make a re map difficult on 2.0T fsi? Obviously not!

Having said that I see there is a company re mapping new BMW M5's:eek:

Some people are just plain gready :D

A bit like software companies spend ages trying to make it impossible to copy their product - only to be defeated by a 14yr old Bulgarian school boy.

Mapping is possible however, further engine mods are apparently more difficult.

Apparently the fuel jets for the FSI engine are very expensive.

If it was my money, I'd go to Jabba, IP or Awesome. Star if you are up North.

Custom code is relatively new and although it seems to get good results, I think I'd rather go with people who have been around for longer. I've been the "development" car before and trust me, unless you have a lot of patience you don't want to go there

From what I understand there is a oct II VRS going to be done shortly at Jabba, so it might be worth waiting for the results.

AFAIK the dump valve is built into the turbo too.

Star do a remap via the OBD port :) :)

AMD quoting plus 50 horses i think...

Been reading up a bit more and found APR. Sounds interesting although the switching options via cruise control ain't no good for me as I dont have cruise fitted or can this be done another way?.

Yup it is, no longer a vacuum valve the DV and N249 are one duty cycled solenoid unit. N75 is also fitted directly to the turbo.

Impossible Performance do a remap via the OBD for 2.0FSI. It's not carried out on the rollers but on the road and can be tweaked to cater for your requirements/other mods?

Personally I don't think there is a better OBD remap on the market. I usually do not make statements like this unless I am 100% sure.

Does that only apply to the turbo or can an ordinary 2.0FSI be tweaked a bit?

Ring Mike at IP on 01634-710777, as Des and others will confirm, Mike is a really nice bloke, nothing is too much trouble and he will never have you over on price.

I had my 1.8T Octy vRs mapped there, together with other work, and cannot praise him enough.
