I think in general that is life if you have sensitive eyes, I always needed to turn off any air vents in my cars if my MIL was travelling with me, and she wore glasses, that problem has now been solved, age took its toll!

All the VW Group cars should have the same plastic ducting, same type of fan motor, roughly same evaporator and same pollen filter in them - maybe the Skoda cars that you have been travelling in need the A/C system sanitised to kill off bugs?

@kavadioplikth - Do you have a fascia vent pointed directly at your eyes? I find that can dry my eyes a bit, but that's a factor of the airflow, not the make of car.

I am told that having cold air blown on your face can cause a condition called trigeminal neuralgia basically it affects the three nerves in your face and can manifest itself as toothache, earache and painful eyes. I can vouch for the fact that the condition can be extremely painful and is often misdiagnosed. Be careful.

As well as the blowing at your eyes issue there is the germs in the system issue and breathing, so that is the reason for servicing A/C systems or just generally the air intakes and pollen / cabin filters.

Refreshing / bacteria killing.

Probably the same condition as when some people get extreme eye/pain/headache, after eating ice-cream, etc!

I get aching joints from the a/c if on too long.

I get a trembling in my wallet if the A/C is left on too long. I think that is just a bit of tight arsedness though I think?

Edit:- neuralgia is not nice at all!
