2.0TSI 280hp finally here

@BriskodaJeff I'm really enjoy it, especially joining highway :)

 

@radiognome That "journey info" screen is automatically shown after stopping the engine, didn't do anything in settings.

 

At next few days I will post more pictures and explanations of stuff I like and dislike, I already have 4000km for 20 days but not a single day have time to take nice pictures, I'm just enjoying in car.

ah, I don't think I have ever seen it. I always thought the screen was too big to show only one piece of info at a time. and now it seems it exists but maybe on newer softwares.

I would say if you have Vehicle menu on Bolero it should be on center screen if it is colored maxi dot. I didn't think about that, maybe its just an update on 2018 year models. Car is old only 20 days now.

This is Adaptive Cruise Control behind bus, it was about 6-6,5 l/100km at around 90-110 km/h, real consumption for 4000km now is 9,5 l/100km. You can drive it between 50-110km/h and get somewhere about 7 l/100km which is real for this car. In town, for now consumption is around 12 l/100km.

It is definitely a double consumption from my old 2009 Superb with 140hp engine, I will feel it because i'm driving about 60.000km a year. :)

That's really high consumption wow. Well there are strong horses under the hood, so it makes sense. I wanted something with horse power too, but sadly superb doesn't have V6 Audi engine 3.0 TDI. Would go for it right away. So I'm now at 190hp diesel with average (25.000km so far) consumption 6.4L. My driving style is up to 240km/h on German auto ban, in other countries I usually drive between 130-160km/h. So for that speeds I love the engine.

I do miss horse power and refinery of Fuel engine though... But its simply not worth the cost for me. I don't earn enough =).

@JackySi Yes, its a bit high, but I just wanted petrol first time in my life and choice was 280hp. I'm really happy with it, just, I need to finally say to myself - less fast driving and consumption is than ok. I would love to see even 2.0 BiTdi which is in Passat, 240hp is enough for everyday driving with some accelerations :)

It has the power yeah...

 

My issue with petrol engines, well any engines, that I cant keep my self in control. So bye goes consumption :-P. Also 280 is much faster than 190... Im thinking to chip mine to 220 though. Still wont be as good as awd on dsg tho

 

I essentially cant afford such petrol :-P if I could Im sure 280 would be my first pick.

Having remapped the same TDI in a SEAT Leon then I can thoroughly recommend doing the same for your 190, it makes a big difference. 

 

Once youre rolling , with ~500Nm of torque, you can leave pretty much anything behind. (Oh and a REVO map actually improved my MPG :))

@JackySi Yes, same problem here, when im outside Belgrade its ok, but in Belgrade there is a lot of bad drivers with bad attitudes and wants to race all the time with himself first, so just need to pass all that situations :)

But you are in Slo, you have bigger salary than we in Ser, and with much nicer people in everyday traffic (my mother is from Maribor now living here, but I'm at least 4-5 times a year in SLO), you can't have problem with consumption there, just activate Lane assist and Adaptive cruise control, and thats it, like diesel :)

 

 

@penguin17 What about warranty? You are doing chip tuning after? Also I must ask dealer can I upgrade exhaust without loosing warranty.

Some tuners have a way to tune ECU without losing warranty. At least that's what I was told. I actually asked 4 tuners in Slovenia and all pointed me to this 1 tuner (rsr tuning). They have a way to some how make hash of map same as original so when VW is checking the programs it shows up same as original. 


I have family in "Batajnica" near Beograd too ^^! I'm kind of self employed and I work with the world so for me Slovenia is expensive. In Austria for example individual private business (self employed) pay almost 50% less monthly fees then here. My salary jumps a lot and when I was buying the car I had 4x more than now. So now I'm grateful I went for the diesel haha. At least until this sorts out. Otherwise yes your are correct, but my driving style is 140-150km/h on high way I try not to get tickets but that's it. Driving less than that with Superb just feels slow and the way I'll never get to my destination haha. At that speeds petrol engines are usually much more thirsty.

 

@penguin17 I'm considering remap specially after they've told me these few horses wont make any big change to the way other components are used (clutch, brakes (unless I start racing ofc haha), differential, etc...). Cost is 600€ which feels I don't know, okay? All though I'm still generally a little worried due to these DPF/Adblue systems and billion sensors in these cars. Short term reliability is no concern, but long e.g. 5+ years. I don't know how long I'm planning to keep this car yet.

I had this done on a 6 month old car and was quite aware it would likely TD1 flag if plugged in to the VAG 'mainframe' but I wasn't particularly on good terms with my SEAT dealer anyway and already had a trusted local independent specialist I was using for servicing and maintenance work.  I knew the risks and took them.   The car never produced one fault in 3.5 years ownership.  Not a single sensor light on the dash or sinister fault code on a VCDS scan.   I was very disappointed in the TDI 181ps engine and a remap made a huge difference. 

 

I'm not aware of any tuner has managed to get around the TD1 flag without fitting and flashing a new ECU and then replacing it with the stock one, then swapping them again when the car goes to the dealer.  That's what I was told was the only way around it at present and is obviously expensive initially to buy the ECU and then swap it out each time. 

 

@JackySi my take on this is, if you are going to ruin a clutch and other drivetrain components then you will likely do that without the presence of a remap, it's just down to driving habits and lack of mechanical sympathy.  Yes, you could be unlucky and just have bad clutch plate or similar, which got through quality control but you'd likely find that out well before you considered a remap.  IMO a remap shouldn't cause any problems but could easily exasperate and underlying and already present issue. A responsible mapper should also perform an assessment of your car and some data logging to ensure the car is up to the task.  Anyone stating 'we don't even have to lift the bonnet' is likely someone to avoid.    I would highly recommend going to someone on reputation so for VAG, in the UK, Shark and REVO are highly regarded on many user forums.

@JackySi My "Slovenian family" is also in Batajnica :) Well, with this 280hp car, I don't really love to drive fast first because of fuel consumption and second, because I know i have a lot of power, I don't know how to explain that, with bigger HP I drive slower :). I'm using it only on traffic light with some Alfa romeo racers :) 

 

Very important thing about choice I made is that DPF EGR and other **** I chose petrol this time. I had a lot of problems with broken hoses, clogged filters and black smoke (that old Superb was white so it was a bit black on bumper) and I was sick of that. I sold it with 460.000km, everything else was perfect so for next car I knew it would be Skoda again, but now diesel :) Today, 66km trip with speed around 80-90-100km/h only 6,5L/100km.

Have you read @superbtte build thread about getting his 280 into 560hp (and adding TDI padge .... )? Oddest thing is that he used RaceChip Ultimate tuning box. I was very surprised as I have always thought that tuning boxes are some gibbish bull**** but now I aint so sure anymore.

 

If tuning box really works then it would be IMHO safest in terms of warranty. You just must not forget to remove it before going to your dealer for servicing:tongueout:

Their medium tuning box for your engine @JackySi would cost 399 EUR (including optional mobile App control) and give you 219hp and 488Nm. Well, atleast according to their website and it must be true because it is on internet:D

Hello, after a while of driving (~70.000km) I decided to buy OBD11 and try to "improve" some of things that I want. Here is the list, and if anyone want any help I'll try to help.

 

1. Lock car when engine is running

2. DRL settings in head unit

3. DRL with stripes (if you have SLA)

4. Scandinavian DRL (taillight on when DRL)

5. Presentation run AFS (if you have SLA, this is nice touch, Ill update this post with video)

6. Video in motion (with app in OBD11)

7. Fog lights as coming home lights

8. Disabled exhaust flaps (permanently open)

9. Activated Adaptive Lane Tracking (for some reason, it wasn't in my menu)
