Tsi VRS Water pump

Featured Replies

Low coolant message appeared in cluster last night. Had a look, and yes it was down. Couldn't see anything from topside. Had a bit of a scrabble on the drive and could see coolant on the lower deflector. Topped it up to maximum. Took it to a VW specialist this morning . . . . Yep, it's the water pump/thermostat housing :crying: . . . Bu99er ! !

Out of warranty?

Expensive repair?

Just under £500 for both parts (thermostat housing and water pump) and fitting

Where's it located?

I had a similar issue, but my radiator was leaking from the top corner and spraying it onto the belt area of the engine. Once the radiator was our could see some leaves had congealed in the top corner and rotted into it.

Underneath the inlet manifold. Could see the leak out of the pump/housing pretty clearly

Ah fair enough, at least ones it's done you won't need to worry about it ever again.

Let's hope so

I'd still run it past the dealers, they were doing the TDI's with min50% discount when out of warranty

Droped the wagon off last night, received a call at lunch time, thermostat housing and water pump replaced, coolant topped up, so should all be good now. The faulty part was leaking through a hole on the body. Possibly a breather of some sort ? Back to happy motoring
