Skoda Octavia SE L MK 111. CAR ALARM QUERY

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i have had an 18 plate Octavia estate SE L for 2 months now . Lovely car.

I travel to France on the ferry a lot, so switching off alarms is important. Older posts refer to buttons on the driver’s pillar but new posts refer to the infotainment system (as does the manual) as the place to switch off the alarm that is triggered by movement, what the manual calls the anti towing alarm which detects tipping and charges in angle. Last two trips I didn’t lock the car on the ferry. Not ideal. No reply to question to dealer or Skoda.

I can switch off interior monitoring so that if I had a dog etc.....But there doesn’t appear to be the ability in the infotainment menu to do anything about the anti towing alarm....

i am beginning to wonder if that’s because the SE L doesn’t have the anti towing alarm feature ? ( if it doesn’t, that’s fine, I just need to know! )

Welcome any thoughts and/ or advice.

Thanks.

Pretty sure all the button on the A pillar does is turn off the interior sensors?

I've had mine on the ferry a few times, never even thought to switch them off, no issues. I wouldn't worry too much tbh.

Many thanks!

I believe the button on mine also only turns off the interior sensors if you lock your child or dog in the car as punishment on hots days.

You can just try to lock the car & then rock it back & to manually to see if it triggers the alarm...

I may be totally wrong here but I though a double press of the lock button on the keyfob disabled dead locks and the alarm?

As said, the button on the B pillar (no longer fitted in the latest models and now an infotainment option) only disables the interior sensors.

Ah, yes, you might be onto something here, there is definately a different behaviour from 1-press & a double press on the keyfob.....

And the complete opposite of behaviour of Fords I have driven for one or two presses on the lock button.

Thanks all! Have attempted to trigger it at home with increasingly violent rocking and nothing. So I don’t have it.

Thanks again.

I don't know how, but I once managed to lock mine without the driver's door warning light flashing.  Could this be to show the alarm is de-activated?

I've been on a few ferries and it's only been when the seas have been sickly rough have any car alarms started going off.

I thought one press from locked would opened the drivers door only and a quick 2 press opens all doors? i even sometimes double press to lock mine and i havnt  noticed any different behaviour, alarm still bleeps as normal etc.

You can changed the unlocking settings in the car infotainment. Driver only, all doors or side dependent are the options from what I remember.

Very smooth seas or everyone has been diligent in switching alarms off. Ferries to Orkney and to Lewis - car alarms going off are a regular occurrence.
