A 336bhp Octavia on V-Power Nitro is like an F1 car compared to a tractor powered Fabia.

At least mine gets used on track

but then again we’ve all been up till 4am rebuilding BTCC engines haven’t we.

Think @BossFox can also confirm they don’t use Tesco 99 in btcc

  • In that case your mechanic was quoting from the garage cowboys handbook ”101 BS things to tell your customers"

  • Real Fact. Royal Dutch Shell & Greenergy (part owned by Tesco) that produce Tesco Momentum 99 import and store the same base petroleum,  they co-own facilities. They are both 99 ron

  • This doesn’t seem to make sense as gearing shouldn’t make any difference to power delivery as the power at the flywheel will be consistent at any given rev range. If the flat spot appears more pronoun

Well if you had been at Snetterton last November you would have seen my road car doing 120mph on the straight and passing a Caterham so it's no show pony. Maxed at 160mph (standard(, 165mph (stage 1) and 177mph (stage 2). Golf Gti TCR with 286bhp does 162mph according to VW when you pay them an extra £2,000 to remove the limiter. Civic Type R with 316bhp does 169mph according to Honda.

Only 120mph down the straight BMW does that at Knockhill which is uphill and shorter

Can you buy a BMW STCC from a BMW dealer and how much are they? Noticed it had a roll cage like the Volvo BTCC I was driven around Brands Hatch in by Rickard Rydell awesome brakes.

You buy them from Solution F and the front and rear lights come from a BMW Dealer and only £200k

Sorry to revive an older thread. I was near Tesco today and found out that Momentum 99 E5 was 129p, only 5p a litre above the 95 octane. There are no Shell garages nearby to try V Power. Put 1/2 tank of 99 in and as reported,  the acceleration at lower revs is subjectively brisker- rather like my old 2l turbo diesel.

Anyone else currently using this fuel in a 1.4tsi or have useful experiences with it.

For 5p extra per litre, it seems a no- brainer, given the cost of an engine. I read the report which wasn't totally convincing on the cleaning properties. However I have used it continuously for about 7 years, with no problems on my MkII TFSI and Stage One MkIII TSI. My 245PP seems to like it. It probably helps  gives extra power and seems to help deliver good economy,

Momentum 99 E5

All the fuel pumps around here in Yorkshire are printed with E7 (7% bioethanol) and D7 (7% biodiesel) . Adverse effects on car? There was some forum talk of this being increased to 10%

@bmbmdmb

Are you sure?,

best look again, and maybe make an opticians appointment.

Pumps around the country in Supermarket and other filling stations are now marked E5 on unleaded pumps and B7 on diesels.

Super unleaded 97 ron min or 99 ron minimum is also marked E5.

*Winter spec Petrol & Diesel is now being delivered to UK filling stations, Tesco Momentum 99 can be a nice ron / octane more like Continetal European winter super unleaded, or the stuff from Scottish depots can be.*

I very much doubt special higher bio content Petrol is delivered to Yorkshire. There are no depots mixing it specially for Yorkshire.

Morrisons used to sell E10 in their filling stations,

it was 10 years back when a mate misfueled my  brand new Hyundai i30 1.6 TD with it.

VW named the e-Up! especially for Yorkshire.

I doubt myself now, I had just returned from Manchester airport pickup. £4.50 up to 30mins to just pickup a passenger or £100 fine.

I have made a mental note that Tesco and BP fuel stations had the same number after the letter. I will either confirm this or made an appointment at Spec Savers...damn just made a cuppa cocoa instead of coffee...

Both premium BP ultimate and standard diesel were definitely listed as same 7% content.

I just got my new Specs at SpecSaver, hopefully better than ones i have had before.

I am going to have a cuppa as well, proper Yorkshire tea, and then go for a blast to see just how good the Momentum 99 is that they are selling just now,

feels like the usual 100+ ron, or maybe its just the lovely cool air and dry roads and sticky winter tyres.

Hello my friends,

PLEASE SHARE YOUR OPINIONS , BUT ONLY IF YOU TRIED BOTH FUELS FOR LONG TIME.

Facts after using both fuels for a period longer than 30 days each (1000-1500miles):

Car: 10 plate Octavia Vrs petrol FSI, stage one , 245bhp, 300lb torques.

1. Momentum 99:

- acceleration feels more explosive compared with v power , but delivery not so smooth compared with shell

- In between 5000- 5500rpm there is clearly a blank spot where car power seems to drop just before changing gear and I get the feeling that it’s no point to keep reving so it’s better changing. This is more pronounced in higher gears 4th, 5th.

2. Shell V power:

- Power delivery is smoother, car doesn’t feel as fast and acceleration not so explosive (don’t get me wrong , car is very fast anyway, lol) but I get that feeling that power it’s there all the time when needed. It gives a feeling of reassurance which I like it ...

- There are no blank spots where I feel that car is losing power, even in high gears it just pulls and pulls up to red line way over 5000rpm.

- Fuel consumption looks a bit better, but not sure about this , maybe is just my right foot.

PERSONALLY I PREFER V POWER, it’s the feeling of knowing that every second you get what you need and expect , there are no “surprises” and I feel secure when overtaking. I don’t think car is actually faster with Momentum, it’s just the way it makes you feel.

PS: I want to get back to Tesco Momentum for a month, just to be sure that my thoughts are right.

Will get back here and share the facts again.

HAVE YOU GOT ANY REAL FACTS ABOUT THIS? I would like to hear it.

THANK YOU.

I have a 2017 (67) Octavia vRS 245 Tsi DSG with a Stage 2 that is pushing 333.6 bhp on the rollers.
I don’t really feel any difference in any unleaded fuel at all due to how quick this car is. For the most part it’s just a case of “hanging on” 🤣👍

After September in the UK the 95 ron E10 will very likely feel just like 95 ron E5 unleaded and the Super 97 or 99 ron E5 as it is now and many will never feel any difference when just trucking around the same as all the other traffic. On the rollers the Dyno might show a difference on the 95 or 99 ron, but then people do not travel to work on a dyno.
