Hi, sorry for the length of this post but it's just highlighting the bad expirence i've had with the dealership i've bought the car off.

To start I bought a Kodiaq from Capitol Skoda in Newport (South Wales) and about a month after I picked up the car (08/07/17) I noticed some problems with the Bolero unit. The unit was getting really hot in use and would often freeze, resulting in the unit restarting and causing the SOS feature to tempory disable it's self.  I took the car o the dealership where I explained to one of the technicians what was happening and they took it in to take a look.

The result of the first visit was to reset the software, however the week after that the problems where still there. I then took the car in to the dealership the second time, the technician decied to take the unit out and make sure all the connections where sound on the unit. Due to my age (19 at the time) I wasn't allowed a temp car so i decied to stay around the area and go to a nearby shooping area and wait in the dealership after that. I was in the dealership for 6 hours waiting after spend 3 hours shopping (Which I hate), after waiting in the dealership for a little bit I asked the service desk if they knew what was happening and she said hes just struggling to put the unit back in because its his first time working on of these. After about another our the woman took me to the desk and said that there was a problem and that the technician had broke the glass for the touch screen on my car. Their only option was to give me the car back with a big hole in my dash and the cable tucked out the way.

They had put the part on order and said it could take a while and they would be in touch after about two weeks I called up to ask where the part was and they said they would get back to me, they didn't. After another two weeks I called them again and was told it came in a week before and they was going to call me soon after getting it booked in It was finally replaced again another few hours spent waiting in the dealership. However as the technicians replaced the unit they broke the top glove box (it seamed to me like the cable attached to the release wasn't attached) and after another trip they again had to order the glove box however it was replaced the following week and again all seamed good.

After a month of using the new unit I noticed the same problem started again and this time they just did a software update. I got it booked in again for it to be check and I was informed that the car had a short circuit and they needed to replace one part. This part was replaced and the short cuirt was fixed but still not the radio. The time the car went in for the 91R2 contorl unit, they offered to pick the car up from my home and drive it there and back which I gladly accepted. Wish i didn't after getting the car back I reviewed my dash cam footage and was not impressed. The driver wasn't paying attention and set off the front assist (glad it's on the car) and was also speeding doing 60 in a 30 zone.

Front assist:

Speeding:

After this I complained to Skoda and to the dealership about this and I beleive the driver was then dismissed.

Over all I was not happy with everything I went through and the way it was all delt with and now its settled I thought I would share it with everyone. Multiple hours, hundreds of miles later, speaking to one of the VW AA machinics and going to a new dealership finally resolved the issue with a new software update.

If the dealer is prepared to sell you a car, then they should be suitably insured to allow you to drive one of their courtesy cars.

You're remarkably patient, you drove around in your £20,000+ car without a head-unit in the dash for 3 to 4 weeks?

Not good enough. You said you spoke to Skoda UK customer services, what did they say? Did they or Capitol Skoda offer you any compensation or gesture of goodwill for their failings?

It's annoying how if I want to test drive a car, insurance ins't a problem but when it would be handy to have a replacement one I can't :( The patient thing was more because of work, I needed a car to get to work as I have no other feasible option.

Capitol offered me half price serviceing while I have the car but after the way the car was drove I wouldn't want to reutrn there. Instead i'll use White Dove in Cardiff, my sister just bought a Seat Arona and she was about to buy from Capitol but because of my expirence she used White Dove and a lot of people I've spoken to even the AA guy (who said he used to work for them) have had lots of problems with them.

I would've rejected the car to be honest. Doesn't help with the dealership being rubbish too.

Also I find it very surprising how your dealer didn't give you a loan car! Mine gave me a new Octavia RS to use, and I'm close to your age...

I don't know but maybe 21 is the lower limit for insurers on courtesy cars.

It's more likely that the premiums rocket if the lower age limit falls below a certain age, usually between 21 and 25. I imagine the insurance costs on a fleet of courtesy cars is already astronomical.

The dealer wants their cake, and to eat it i.e. will take the OP's money off him by selling him the car, but then not providing alternative transport to keep him mobile when they screw up.

Poor, very poor.

My question regarding Skoda UK was that they need to step-in and rectify the situation. Given the OP's experience its understandable he wouldn't want to  accept Capitols offer of reduced price servicing, but then to be fair to them there isn't much they can do about that. I'd be pressing Skoda UK to extend the offer to a different dealer of my choice.

I can't remember if it's 21 or 25 but the franchise Monmotors has the same policy on the other car brands it deals with Seat, VW, Audi and Ford.

When I called Skoda UK and explained they got intouch with Capitol and they did appoligize and offered me that service offer but at this point I just wanted nothing to do with them. I'm not too bothered about the offer as long as my future expirence with Skoda and White Dove is good.
