Final update - remained in use until I sold the car in November 2021. New owner did a factory reset, configured to his liking and is equally pleased (ignoring the Columbus I also gave him with the car). 

 

So the only niggles are minor lag on cold boot, probably 3 inexplicable shut downs mid journey, and Google navigation also exiting from time to time (easily solved by just starting again and selecting last journey). Fabulous value for money and sound quality.
