Door is closed, car says open

Featured Replies

Hi,

My rear door opens and closes fine but the car warns its open when it's closed.

Is there a way of bypassing the door ctrl module before I have to start removing the door to check?

Scan shows the fault as:

There might be a possibility do disable the entire module with VCDS (like the module is not present), but I'm not sure what the consequences of that would be (what other issues would arise by doing that)

could this be a symptom of the increasingly common broken wire(s in the drivers door flexible link?

Since his car is a '09, a good start in diagnosing the issue ... I don't have such issues so far on mine (a year older, with 172000 km)

Iv'e just checked the loom inside the rubber gaiter on the drivers side door. No cables are broken but there is alot of furring between two wires where it looks like it has arched. So I think i'll change the loom.

Would it have blow a fuse when it shorted? Does anyone know which one if it did?

Maybe Fuse 17 (10 A) under the the dash panel?

Nothing wrong with the fuse.

I'll get a new loom and if that fails a new door module.

You're free to recheck all the fuses, just in case (get a 12 V fuse tester, it's much easier):

Are you saying arched as in bent or arced as in sparked?

Arched as in blown electricly.

Bought a new loom now and all is working well now.

Glad I checked then, that is   arced   sounds like " arkt " :D
