Installing fog lights

Featured Replies

I would like to install front fog lights to my mk2, I have looked online and found some fog lights that take H8 bulbs, however the manual says about removing a grille. Since I currently have blanking plates there, will this fog light fit and do I need some sort of grille next to it to fill up the rest of the hole?

The ones I'm looking at are Hella 1N0 354 018-021 and N0 354 018-011 although I'm tempted to fit the cheaper Johns brand, I'm not sure of the differences.

I have a switch with a rear fog only installed, and I found out how to remove it and replace with one with a front fog, and the extra wire that needs to be pushed into the plug. I found a HID cable online which comes with a fuse and relay that will serve as parts for a necessary loom as I doubt Skoda have provided one on cars without them. I also suspect I won't be able to make the front fog light work on the dashboard, so I hope that is not a problem for the MOT.

Additionally, this light offers a cornering light feature, but I don't know how this works. I suspect it won't work for this age vehicle. Does it use some sort of steering switch?

This looks similar to my front fogs on the Greenline version of Fabia from the same era... They had a specific grille panel to sit in which is different to standard blank or round foggies, but they do look nice. Try looking on eBay for a Fabia Greenline and you will see what I mean. I can't help with wiring as they were standard to this model and the cornering function I was told, was not just programming but more involvement as I asked if that could be activated by the dealer, along with cornering headlights. I think cornering fogs just light up say, left when steering left etc, whereas headlights actually move the beam as well.

This typed or copied/pasted to the "Bay" will show you a Greenline front end.

I did a search and it seems like cornering lights are available through the BCM and some work with VCDS via this post:

...If you get them up and running, let me know!
