Paint loss on wheel arches

Featured Replies

Has anybody experienced a small but annoying loss of paint on the arrises or sharp angles around the wheel arch. There are no scratches around the areas the paint has just come away.

Claim on 3 yr paint warranty pronto.

Be sure that you get a copy of the report written by the Trained Technician or Warranty Manager that the Dealership has check the car for the paint thickness to see if Poor Factory Finish or a Pre Factory departure repair or an In-Transit damage repair by Kerb Side Auto's / Dealership Mobile Contractor dodgy touch ups!

Then have them arrange a Qualified Inspection by Skoda UK's chosen Professionals and a plan of action.

Is that area the only one with Paint not to the Factory Spec. etc.

Dealer just processes the initial report, photos with paint thickness with paint micrometer showing thickeness and all other relevant information will be sent to skoda uk who authorise or reject the request.

Dealer should put request in whether they think its a warrantable issue or not.  As it takes about 5-10mins to process the request.

Skoda UK try to authorise or reject,  often now rejecting.

But you do not leave it there because some Employee had a Camera and a Meter to measure the paint.

You get them to arrange a Qualified Examination if they are rejecting.  As many here have had to do.  5-10 minutes to reject or authorise is what

VW brought Rod McLeod into head Skoda UK so that they could save on Warranty Claims, they should improve Quality Control rather.

Yes you can request an inspector to come and have a look as well. But initial process is the request to be put down. When i said it takes 5-10mins, i meant dont let dealer fob you off as it takes them 5-10mins to put request online with images.  This is 1st process that has to be done before a inspector can be requested. Sometimes they will send one without you requesting.

I used to send for authority on every single customer due to it being skoda uk who authorise and not the dealer.  So we had nothing to lose other than 5-10min time, and if it was authorised its more business for the dealer.

I used to go inspect them, and do refinnishing.

I would sometimes be tempted to ask if Stevie Wonder or David Bailey was still the Warranty Manager or Workshop Manager.

Amazing how so many of them can not bend at zneez, hunker down and check out what is obvious and not just where the paint has come off.

I would always inspect with the bodyshop manager being the warranty manager, but would always put a claim down unless it was VERY obvious it was caused by an external influence or car has been repaired which you know when you measure paint depth.

I have this issue too, I bought car 10 months old so not 100% sure yet whether it’s a quality issue or a bodied repair.
