No option in the infotainment to switch on audible tone for opening and closing and no lane assist, both standard on my old vRS. I thought this was meant to be the flagship model! Oh well never really liked lane assist anyway but surely should be standard nowadays on a 30k car.

Has lane assist ever been standard spec on the Octy vRS?

Do you mean alarm chirp when opening and closing?

I think all MKIII Octavia Vrs trim had LA as standard

My old 63 plate and my 230 has it.

I see from your signature that you have a Sportline . . . . . . . . .

The L&K is the flagship ;-)

Did you look at the spec sheet before ordering/committing? I got mine ex-demo, but it was the first thing I asked for before even putting a deposit down. Mine runs to 6 pages, and some of it is in badly-translated (or not translated at all) German, but it's generally pretty easy to see what the car has or doesn't have from it. For example

image.png.6f65c9b344c0fb013247505bb73728b8.png

7Y9 was lane assist. It wasn't clear to me from this whether it also had the Active Lane Guidance, which I really wanted, so I rang the dealer and got them to check in the car's infotainment system while I was on the phone (I bought from a dealer 150 miles away).

On the positive side, I believe the acoustic confirmation of locking / unlocking can be coded using VCDS or OBD11. My OBDeleven unit has an app for it, but it says you must have the OEM security system installed for it to work.

I think if you have the flagship, Skoda should really do their best to remind you of the fact.  The L&K could really do with more badges :D

I set up the chirp on locking and unlocking from the infotainment system on my 2016 L&K 190D

(flagship). It is fitted with lane assist which I don't really like, either.

Correct I have the Sportline 220. From the Skoda literature though I'm sure they describe the 'Superb' as their flagship model rather than the spec of the Superb, but maybe I picked that up wrong. Still Sportline is still a £30k+ car! Mines is a PCH and at the time of ordering this was the only sportline 220 available in the UK that could be delivered in the timescale I required so didn't go into the detail of breaking down all the options it had, I knew it was standard apart from front heated seats and also turned up with the 9.2" Columbus which was a bonus. These aren't big issues just little irks as I love the car. And yes to confirm the audible tone is the chirps when locking unlocking the car which was standard on my 14 plate and 66 plate vRS from the infotainment but not on the superb sportline 220.

Agreed. I've tried to redress it with a retrofit. Classy and elegant, understated and not even slightly chavvy. Reckon I've added a couple of grand to the residual value too,:) but just waiting for my dealer to confirm that. He went strangely quiet when I emailed him the picture...

You got a SE-L now Jeff?

No - just the residual value of one. A 2004 Mk 1with 250,000 miles on it according to the dealer.

I also have a 220 sportline. Ive coded a few things in like the audible chirp when lock/unlock as well as a few other things with obd eleven ( i didnt use the apps as i have been told these can mess with other stuff that isnt intended)

Once i coded it, it appeared on the infotainment screen as shown above.

Yes that might be an option. I've tried reading up on obdeleven but it's a bit confusing with credits and how much you'll end up paying. The unit alone looks around £80. What would be the added costs for audible chirp, vim, traffic sign recognition?

I didnt use the apps as mentioned they can cause issues.  I did then via adaptions and long coding, some are similar to vcds so can follow those guides.  Unit itself is around £35-£40 plus that again to upgrade to pro version, this unlocks a lot more features and lets you change things via adaptions and long coding.  If u do use credits they are cheap enough around 10 credits is what majority off apps cost and that is around £1.50 however u get a credit a day for free for logging in each day/or watching a free ad. If you are patient you can just save up credits.  But as mentioned further up. Be very careful using apps.

Obd eleven forum also shows guides for various codings as well.

Be very very careful.

I suspect that if you have a problem using a half baked OBDeleven app, which probably sort of worked on some other VAG model/year for someone in some other far away country and it messes up your car, you could end up on your own with an expensive headache.

I doubt the Lithuanian chappie behind OBDelelven is going to find/buy a Superb to your spec and test/ fix it for you, I doubt he's got any access to official VAG documentation (as nobody even VCDS has)

Someone here on Briskoda spent about £80-£100 iirc on OBDeleven to do a rear brake pad change, it did not go smoothly and money was demanded several times by the app during the process.

This is why i didnt use the apps. The adaptions and long coding side of obd eleven works like vcds.

Thanks guys. Yes probably not worth the risk on a brand new car.

Mine was only 7 months old with 930 miles when i got mine. Just over a couple months ago, as mentioned its fine aslong as u dont use the apps.  Pro version gives u access to long coding and adaptions. (like vcds) i havent had any issues with anything i have changed.

I coded my L&K with just 4 miles on the clock :D (not to mention I have also coded more cars than I can recall with less than 100 miles on the clock)

However I personally wouldn’t want to plug anything into a car that has basically just been copied from the developers.

There are numerous posts on here and other VAG forums where coding has not gone smoothly (and sometimes cannot be reversed) with OBDeleven.

Granted VCDS is much dearer, but when you consider what you get for your money (free updates for life, support from Ross-Tech, and nearly full price if you decide to sell it on again, etc) for me it’s a no brainer.

How much is vcds?

Ahh not too bad!

I'm using ODB11 as well, so far zero issues with any thing. I don't understand what people did to mess up anything, but professional VCDS software (unless its from OFFICIAL SKODA/VW/Audi) is all same **** as ODB11. Sorry but price does NOT prove quality of the software. If its not official (which VCDS is not) its simply same risk as ODB11. The only plus side could be support and perhaps older project/software so less bugs, better stability.

Don't take me wrong, I know VCDS is older so it makes sense it should have less issues. I coded a lot, really a lot of things through ODB11 and nothing is wrong nor nothing works as it shouldn't.
The UI of VCDS is super outdated...

If you don't like lane assist, turn it off. Takes two button presses. Stays off afterwards.

@IanJD I was just stating that my car was fitted with it. I didn't both to say I had turned it off.
