Park Assist - do you use it?.

I’ve got it on both vehicles but have never bothered to even try using it.

Has anyone found it to be something they would now consider an essential feature?.

After having it for 4 years ........never..... not even for free.

Me too.

I can just imagine crawling through a UK small town with a string of impatient drivers behind wondering what the heck I was doing.

Our country town is the perfect place to try it without upsetting anyone but that’s the very reason I haven’t even bothered.......there are so many spots always available.

Is it only good for parallel parking?

I understand some/all do 90* reversing also.

I think I've used it twice. I find it gets confused by things like signs and lamposts.

The newer generation of it looks interesting though: it can reverse a trailer around a corner!

Now that’s potentially of value......if I can remember that for long enough.

I foolishly ticked the box on my previous Superb.

Regretted it from day 1. Played with it a few times, but never regarded it as a serious tool. Couldn't trust it an inch. Literally.

If you can drive, then you definitely don't need it.  Mirrors and beepers work for me every time.

Not being sexist (she’s out of the room at the moment) but the thought of trying to explain to swmbo the details of the auto parking after trying the system myself I couldn’t justify the trouble and potential damage that would of course be MY fault, might be ok for some but not us:D

I couldn’t imagine TBH mastering the issue of managing the brakes and accelerator but not the steering.

To me it’s an advertising gimmick.

It does get you two extra parking sensors on the front wheelarches that are not available otherwise: really useful when trying to negotiate narrow spaces.

More sensors, more binging, more bonging is it near the left or right front or back, sorry it must be me:@

Out of two cars that have had it, I've only used it four times.

In saying that, it really will get you into (and out of) places that you'd normally not think possible.

Do the front and rear beepers go off during the manoeuvre?.

Let me think now; as I’ve used it four times in five years....................:call:

I can’t be 100% but seem to think that the sensors still work as normal which is the way I’d expect it to be.

Pure gimmick for me. And the side sensors that enable it are (IMHO) the worst thing about my car. They are way too sensitive, giving the full-on "you're going to hit something right now" warning when at least 6-8 inches away from the thing they are warning you about. Far from helping in a tight space, I actually turn them off as they are utterly confusing. It's a shame, since the front sensors on my previous Mk2 Superb Greenline (without park assist) were brilliant. I just wish there was an option in the infotainment to permanently mute the side sensors.

Second that - pulling into a passing place on a single track road to let a car coming the other way pass is usually accompanied by a "chorus" of beeping from the nearside side sensors, which gets very irritating!!!

At the very least a separate volume setting for the side sensors in the infotainment system - please Skoda :punch:

Park assist- if in doubt - send her out to check.
