too much oil

Featured Replies

hi I've  got a 6w plate tei 2ltr diesel with the effected  engine, took it to lightcliffe skoda in warrington were they turned the throttle body round 180 degrees (in june) since then had to change the oil twice due level rising above the top mark, told lightcliffes , he asked the tec guy who just laughed and said its impossible. been in transport 52 years, now at a loss

Welcome.

Are you putting in for his leaving gift?    Time he retired.    (Sorry, i see you have been in transport 52 years.  The tech is still better off in comedy rather than a Skoda Garage.)

Use your 24 month Trust Building Warranty from Skoda / VW.

Have the car into a competent Technician for a diagnosis and repair. Injectors if required or any other parts required at no expense to you.

VW are paying.

Sorry, but what is a "6w plate tei"?
Perhaps you could state exactly what model Yeti you have and it's year of mnufacture?
Has your car had "the fix"?

'2 ltr diesel with the effected engine'.

Sounds like a 2.0 TDI with the engine affected by the emissions scandal and that will or will not have had 'the fix;.

And looking at my keyboard, I'd say it's either a 62 plate or a 63 plate. :)

2012 maybe by the OPs post asking on Yeti seats.

sorry its a 62 plate

Did you have the fix, and when. (The Yeti not you!.)

Did Lighcliffe Skoda carry it out?

If done i would arrange with Skoda UK to have your car inspected and a diagnosis done to see why the oil level is rising.

They can take a sample, see how much diesel in the engine oil and get on with a repair.

Courtesy Car, your expenses covered etc.

Not an un-common issue since VW Group started the Voluntary Recall.   Skoda , VW, SEAT, Audi techs must know about it. VW do.

Did the “tec” guy have a brush or hosepipe in his hand because he certainly knows f**k all about engines and if he’s an example of their techs I would find another garage ASAP.

I like the bit about turning the throttle body around 180 degrees........

Turned the pipe round inside the inlet so it does not foul the throttle body etc with soot.
I do believe it's something that is done on all Audi engines that have had the fix.

Ah, that’s better.

“Too much oil” ......are we talking about over fueling?.

Dont know, but like I said oil level is rising since the "fix"

Probably if the oil was analysed they might find some diesel in it?

Surely this is just lots of failed DPF active re-gens (many engines re-gen more after the fix)  injecting diesel into the combustion chamber on the exhaust stroke some which can run past the pistons/rings/bores polluting the oil. Diesel doesn't evaporate so the sump oil level increases due to the extra fuel - which is a rubbish lubricant.

This needs sorting ASAP or you will have a dead DPF and/or then a dead engine

How many miles a year do you do and what type of journeys do you do?

Sorry if I am just stating the obvious.

Do you have another dealer nearby - worried about  " he asked the tec guy who just laughed and said its impossible. been in transport 52 years, now at a loss" -  No it's not impossible and on some car makes it's common (eg Mazda 6 diesel, Vauxhaul Zafira diesel etc..) . This sounds like a person that doesn't understand emission controls on modern diesel engines.

Take heed of Offski's post above but act quickly before more damage is done.

After the repair ensure you have another oil and filter change.
