Octavia vRS 230 manual vs 245 DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Thought some of you might be interested in this extended twin-test we're doing at Parkers.co.uk of the Octavia vRS Estate.

https://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/octavia/estate-2013/long-term-reviews/vrs-20-tsi-230ps-0317-on-5d/

Lots of practical considerations plus a video review and a day spent with the police driving a covert Octavia!

We're still in the blue 230, will be adding in some stuff about the green 245 soon.

Has more relevance than the last comparison test by Autocar who pitched a 4x4 Tdi DSG vRS hatch against a fwd petrol manual estate vRS.

Matching coat/car.....oooft fancy B)

Isn't this irrelevant now as you can only order a 245 for MY19?!

I suppose that covers all the bases! So much variety in the vRS range.

A bit but the blue car also has no options, while the green one has DCC, larger nav screen etc, so we've got other talking points, plus people buying used.

That was entirely deliberate :D

Good write up so far and video. Amazing that the boot is bigger than the V90.

Although I don't agree with your 'theory' of the VAQ diff on the vRS estate because in my opinion and most others on here I would think, it is very effective. Unless you have actually driven one and come to that surprising conclusion!

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, had to take a slightly pragmatic opinion on the diff for our mostly non-enthusiast audience. For me it's a must have, particularly on wet roundabouts!

Does a non-enthusiast go for a petrol a vRS though?! You're a trusted reviewer, speak the truth
