Reversing mirror dip

Featured Replies

I activated that option using OBD11 app. In infotainment appears that option but I cannot get it working.

On net I found several threads, for different Skoda models beside Karoq, on how to get it working if activated via VCDS (have to turn mirror config switch to passenger side etc). Yet I could not get it working with my Karoq.

So, anyone activated that option (via VCDS or OBD11, not if factory-fitted with memory seats - it works than of course) and got it working?

Watching with interest

It is strange that the option was only available if the electric memory driver seat was part of the config and the electric folding mirrors IIRC.

Assuming all models of Karoq come with electric adjustable mirrors, I can only imagine the signal for the dip function uses an additional wire which is in a branch of the wiring loom which is added for the seats and folding mirrors. Therfore if the function to dip can't be coded then it may be that there is no wiring in place?

Just a thought...

I imagine it's a similar story to the last generation. There are 2 variants of the mirror motor:

- A 'normal' mirror motor has 3 wires which allows up/down and left/right movement.

- A 'memory' mirror motor has 7 wires, the extra 4 are to report the current mirror position.

The second variant was only fitted with memory seats in the case of the FL MK2 Octavia but it doesn't require them to function as I've retrofitted one without memory seats.

I'd be surprised if the MQB platform was that different so you might need a new mirror motor, a few wires and the coding to get it working. It only needs doing on the passenger side as the drivers side doesn't dip.

Happy to be corrected by anyone with MQB specifics :)

I let activated the option using VCDS, it works but the movement is very restricted, but better than nothing. Car does not have memory seats.

I did not do by myself. There is a car electronics shop near me. They made it in a packet including needle sweep, mirror tilt etc.

My car spec falls between SE and SE L

When regular tilting moves the mirror edge 2 cm down, mine does only 1 cm. But it works fine in comparison to my Golf mk7, where Karoq have bigger rear view mirrors.

Here is a short clip of the movement I record

You just enabled it and it started tilting when you engage Reversing? Or you had to do something, some setup like switching to R mirror side, tune tilt etc?

When the mirror switch is on R (left hand driver) position, it automatically starts tilting when reversing engaged.
