What do you think?

I managed to get an 06 red vrs from SMC for

I used SMC for my 60,000 service and found them ok but pricey. I also overheard a sales man telling a customer that the Octavia was based on the platform of the Audi A4 (Which is what the customer was driving)!!! Really disappointed that Mid Cornwall Cars no longer service on a Saturday because they are a fantastic dealer in my experience. Now Furby is out of warranty it goes to Arnie Levicks in Street anyway :-))

ps Loaders in Dorch ripped me off on a new Polo years ago with this kind of thing. I turned up to collect my 'new car' to discover that the sales man had accidently registered it as a VW rental vehicle at the end of the previous month!!!

Ebay the CD changer :) Its what I would do given the situation. Sure, first I would just say why not leave it in there, but to not sour the relationship too much I would pay the £100, fit the MP3 player and Ebay a "brand new" Skoda Fabia CD changer on Ebay - and get nicely over £200. :)

I really wouldn't worry about souring the relationship with the salesman, at the end of the day, your the customer and it's his job to keep you happy, not the other way around.

Do not pay for the changer, I really dont think they will bother to remove it, as at the stupid hourly rates that garages charge they will make more money leaving it in and working on another customers car. not to mention they'd be lowering the factory spec of a vehicle which I dont think Skoda UK would approve of, and remember you are doing them the favour by letting them pre-register it, the warranty will run from the day you collect the car so dont worry about that, if they want to give you a CD changer as a goodwill gesture for helping them out then so be it ;)

And £200 is even nicer when the changer cost you nothing, as opposed to £100

Just don't forget - You are the customer - you have the power - dont let them think they are doing you a favour.

Don't pay it - it would seem that all 06 reg. Vrs's fitted with cruise come with CD changer as standard. I only found mine when I hoovered the car out. I didn't order it, and I certainly didn't pay for it!

A tad confused now - at no time and in no email has he ever said he's not expecting any further payment for the changer

Ah well, I'll be able to stick 6 mp3 cds in there and have about 1500 tracks to listen to:thumbup:

Steve, I obviousely did not make it clear in my last Email. The car is yours and I am not expecting to receive any further payment for the CD-Autochanger, I hope that this makes the position clear.

Kind regards Gordon Marsh. Irvine Sales Department.

The dealer registering the car in their name is almost certainlky for financial gain. They can register it as a demo for 3 months getting a discount from Skoda and recieve a tax break on it.

This seems to be an all to common practice, one thing to be wary of is that you must make sure you are the owner of the car, if for some strange reason the company went into liquidation then it could be classed as a company asset and you'd be left high and dry.

well, thats what you wanted to hear, free CD changer

Latest from Irvine Bridgewater....

I can confirm that you will be the first (and only) owner. The car will be taxed for 1yr and 1 week so you wont lose out on the road tax either.

When we get the V5 here we send it off as simply an address change thus retaining the 1 owner status. As you know the deal we did was dependant on targets here being done and extra support money from Skoda being secured. Doing it this way keeps everyone happy!

I have no complaints whatsoever with these guys...very helpful, great communication and very accomodating.

So there you have it - cruise control, metallic black paint and a cd autochanger for under 12 grand.

10 days, 23 hours and counting....
