Engine almost stalls while driving

Featured Replies

Please help me find out why the engine of my car suddenly drops RPM for a few seconds then it recovers. The issue is intermittent and sometimes the engine stops completely. See below a video while I was driving.

The problem started immediately after you hit some holes in the road. Is that happening always?

From my experience, the engine can lose power from the following reasons:

  • a clogged fuel filter (replace it)

  • fuel injector issues (try cleaning them)

  • bad fuel pressure regulator (replace it)

I chang the filter ...

But This day did not work just start rotating but the engine does not work.. what is this new problim ?

Check if you hear the fuel pump buzzing when you turn the ignition on.

I heard two days ago but no today there is no sound anymore, is the pump problem?

@KhatabMKhatab - After you shot that video, was there any smell of fuel from the exhaust? The starter motor, and hence battery, both seem fine.

If the fuel pump is not buzzing when turning the ignition on, there are some possible reasons:

  1. the fuse for the fuel pump is bad
  2. the fuel pump relay is bad
  3. the wiring between pump relay and pump is bad
  4. the fuel pump is bad

I recommend testing from 1 to 4 in this order.
