AEE ignition timing and adaptation

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Regarding the AEE engine:

Any tips about the proper ignition timing adjustment?

(No special tools available in my area so we just use trials based on engine performance, knocking and the ease of starting the engine).

Is it a must to preform a throttle body alignment/adaptation after adjusting the ignition timing?

Thanks.

You can't adjust properly the ignition timing without special tools for testing. Any other related procedures should be conducted according to special tools indications.

Thanks for your reply.

Can I use a vaccum gauge?

In your case, a vacuum gauge is only good for a broad adjustment. As I've said, you need special tools.

Any mod to use a crankshaft position sensor instead of the distributor? Like the 1.3 system!

Can't find any service provider with these tools yet.

That device above is so expensive for me to get one for me.

I'm still looking for a mod to use a crankshaft position sensor.

Some guy suggests using the whole 1.3mpi stuff... ECU, wirings, sensors and flywheel.

Except for the fuel injectors.

And modifying the 1.3 ignition coil to connect with the spark plugs by wires.

And making an adaptor between the 1.3 throttle and the 1.6 intake manifold.

What do you think about this?

I think i might have found a way to do this https://www.ross-tech.com/
i have order a third party device to hopefully read the car computer and i can read the igniton timing

Nothing new  there. VAG1552 is the original VAG scanner while Ross-Tech makes an equivalent (quite better) scanner.

So can i use the cable from to check the igniton timing

Although your photo is showing a clone made in China cable with a pirate accompanying software, it should do the job.
