Felicia 1.6 gearbox.

Featured Replies

Is there a "better gearbox" for my felicia? I understand that the AEE engine fits with the VW 085 gearboxes however is it actually better than the skoda boxes? Will it work?

I'm looking to get around 120bhp and would like to keep the 1.6.

14SK is rated for you guessed it 140Nm so as long as you stay below that you should be fine!

no, 085 gearbox was designed for 1 liter engine back in 70's. It almost falls apart when it's paired with AEE and AEF engine.

Skoda gearbox was developed for 100hp 1.6 (which was never produced) and can handle even more powerful engines - there is a turbo Favorit with 240Nm.

It's worse than that. The 084 was designed in the 70's, then they bodged a 5th gear on the end, hoped the oil got that far, and called it an 085.

Ok. So there is nothing better than the skoda box and my best option is to find a new one? (Current box is done for.) :)

What's wrong with your gearbox? Maybe there's a chance to repair it.

Basically any Felicia (and Favorit) gearbox will physically fit - ofcourse, different engines had different gearing and 1.6/1.9 boxes had some reinforcements to support heavier engines.

Modified variant of the gearbox was also fitted to VW models - Octavia 44kW, Fabia 44/50kW and Lupo AHT - but I'm not sure what it'd take to fit them into Felicia, especially the Fabia one with hydraulic clutch cylinder and bowden gearchange linkage.
