Bonnet sound/noise deadener

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can get the noise deadener that clips on the underside of the bonnet please.

I've asked Garlands to order it and apparently they can't order it in anymore. :worried:

Look up RPS Online on Facebook. They quoted £24.89 for Part number  5E0863831A which is the bonnet sound insulation.

The only problem with that is that I don't use Facebook or any other social media platform other than this one.

My company watch loads of people on forums for any sort of dissent.:swear:

+1 on this, Mike who runs the RPS offering is the guy to go to for genuine parts.

@TheWanderer I'll DM you his email and phone number which you could try instead of Facebook isn't an option.

I take it you havent got your 245 yet? I dont even know if they come with one or not, its pouring down right now but I'll have a look, might get one if its not there

For those that purchased and fitted - Does it make any difference to the noise or waste of money???

thanks

Yes it was worthwhile for the £26 delivered I paid. Engine sounds less rattly when cold for want of a better description, and generally better muffled, though the TSI isn't a particularly noisy engine in the first place.

Also used to see light steam from bonnet when raining on a cold day (there's a thread on here with others reporting same), but haven't seen since. I wouldn't say it's a waste of money.

I think it make a little difference but not a lot i got my one to make the under side of the bonnet look better :)

Ok so Ive looked and Ive not got one of these. How do I order on the RPS facebook page? Email them? Private message?

I guess or comes with some kind of clips to secure it? 5 minute job?

It's about 10 - 15 minutes to fit as there's a fair few clips to insert into it and then its just a matter of easing it in to slots on the underside of the bonnet.

It's idiotproof, I know that because I can do it.

Message them on Facebook or give them a call on Monday. They might take a while to get back to you, but they will do.

Nope, however it did include 5 minutes faffing around looking for the bag of clips that I knocked into the engine bay!

I've installed one on my 2.0TSI, it made it a little quieter and less heat transfer to the bonnet. Good for my paintwork and good for keeping the heat in the engine/warming it up quicker when it's cold. It also just looks better when you lift the bonnet, whereas without it just looked like someone forgot to add it or left it to save cost imo. I'd buy another if I needed for sure.

Mine came with clips, bought it from RRG Skoda a few years ago, I presume the same would come from anywhere else too. Yes, it's a 5 minute job, if that.

Did some further enquiries and found one of these for £38 shipped from the Czech Republic, as it seems that SUK don't sell them.

It's definitely available in the UK. I got a quote from a UK supplier. RPS Online (01905 346808). They quoted £24.89 for Part number  5E0863831A which is the bonnet sound insulation.

I gave Garland's service department the part number initially they said the part number was invalid and then they said not available as a separate item, apparently due to increased fire risk!

Still I've got one. I suspect that the place in Worcester that does them would charge me about £8-10 shipping, so it would only be £3-4 less.

Now to wait for Superskoda to have a sale to get the hood gas struts.

Just thought I'd let you know that it has arrived after 4 days and the price was £35.09 including courier delivery from the Czech Republic and credit card currency charges and it came complete with clips, which the UK dealers want about £5 extra for, so very happy indeed.

Mine came with all of the clips already in the bonnet liner. All I had to do was insert the tabs at the rear of the bonnet and push in the securing clips. was a fraction under £30.00 Ordered  21 st feb last year and came 2 weeks later so youuve done well getting it from Czech republic in that time and for that price.
