HELP , WHERE IS TJHE HEATED SEAT CONTROLLER

Featured Replies

Hi All, my 2011 Skoda Superb Estate had a problem with passenger heated seat which stayed on all the time and ran the battery down. I took the 20A fuse out, F37. Having put F37 back in now both front and rear heated seats don't work. Both fuses for fronmt and rear OK. Indicators say seats ON but no current being drawn, measured at battery.

Gues it's the control module but no success in locating it. Does Anyone know?

It's under the front footwell carpet...

Has the car ever suffered water ingress?

Every time I read about the heated seats electronics, I wonder which complete idiot places electronics at the very lowest point of a car interior?  When cars get older, there will inevitably be a day when some water enters the interior. With a decent car not a problem. You fix the leak, dry your carpets and everything is OK. But in a Superb all that water will collect in this pocket in the floor plate, where some "brilliant" engineer placed the heated seat electronics, so the electronics are fried.

What could ever be the reason to place those electronics so low in the car?

BMW put a load of the electronics in the spare wheel well of the 5 Series (e60/61) boot - the place where people put liquids after shopping etc.... and where a plugged sunroof drain likes to dump its excess water.

It ain't just Skoda.

Thank you silver 1101. What a nightmare to get it out. found corroded plug / socket connection so cleaned up and tried again. Still not mworking so removed and dimsntled unit. circuitry ruined by water ingress, see pics. Unit is located under front passenger seat towards the door. I had to cut the carpet to get to it and remove the oblong plastic which holds the sockets for the heated seat and the air bag, ( the module slides out downwards from this housing) . ( I also had to cut away the front section of the plastic tray which carries many wires for and aft and is right over the control module, it helps to gather the wires in a couple of tie wraps ). Also need to remove the four splined screws securing the seat and tilt the seat back. Hope this helps anyone else with nthis [plroblem.

Hi All. fitted new control module, £40 from dealer. front heated seats still not working. can measure 10v toggling at control module plug when either front seat is switched.  20A and 5A fuses OK. Rear heated seats work OK . Not sure vwhere to look next. does anyone have any ideas. is there a relay somewher in the circuit or is heat power switched through the control module? wish I could get a wiring diagram from somewhere. Cheers

found superb II service manual at easymanuals, download for £14. has wiring diagrams for heated seats , here we go!

You could of download a lot from Erwin for about £7

Given that much corrosion, water might have wicked up the wires causing corrosion and a high resistance fault and limiting the current.

I have the exact same. New module fitted, no signs of corrosion. Pass seat gets slightly warm. Nothing on drivers.

Did you solve it frankedmund?

Just an update, after checking wiring thoroughly and measured voltages, fault found within drivers base heat mat.

Replaced with genuine skoda part, all good. Easier job than I expected.

Hi. Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but any chance you could provide a guide however brief it may be, on replacing the pads?
