Just bought a Monte Carlo

Featured Replies

Hi,

just bought my 1st ever Skoda, a Citigo Monte Carlo, and collect it next Saturday.

The dealer didn’t have the Sat Nav in the car, did the Monte come as standard with this?

also, is there any common problems I need to be aware of.

its a 66 plate, with £24k mileage.

cheers,

carl

When you say satnav do you mean the little screen or the actually satnav software. The Monte should have come with the little screen, I would have thought so anyway.

Yeah sorry, the Portable Infotainment Device (PID). It wasn’t in the car when I viewed/test drove/bought the car, which I can understand so it’s not in view on the forecourt to steal, just want to know for when I collect the car next Saturday.

cheers.

It was registered around the time when the PID was dropped and replaced by an app for your phone so may just have the replacement phone holder rather than the PID one. Mine is a 66 plate and uses the Skoda Move & Fun phone app option for satnav and trip computer.

Oh, I hope that isn’t the case. It was advertised on the Skoda Dealers advert having Sat Nav and Bluetooth (but then again so does every advert I see for Monte Carlo) so hope it’s the PID.

Cheers.

When I bought mine it was advertised the same as yours, I think the dealership load up a generic description. If it's a late 2016 plate I'm pretty sure it will be the phone app option. I'd give them a ring and check.

No probs. I’ll chase them during the week.

Cheers.

If there is a USB socket where the pid should mount then it's the phone app version

If there's 11 gold pin like this pic below then it's a PID system

Thanks, that’s an easy way of identifying which it should have.

If it is advertised as having sat nav and it should have a pid and it's not with the car, they have to provide one. The vehicle has to be as described in the advertisement. It's no different to them stating it has a spare wheel when it has the gunk instead, breach of advertising standards.

I emailed sales exec earlier to clarify, he’s replied back saying he ordering one tomorrow so hopefully should have one on collection.

It's easy to state "they have to provide one" but I would imagine retro fitting one would be no small task if, indeed, possible.

As it is, if the dealership use the standard Skoda format for their website all descriptions say "This is the manufacturer's list specification for this model, please verify the details when you view the vehicle. The list below will not include any additional options fitted to the vehicle or modifications". As many Citigo's come out of the factory to the first purchasers specification you should always ask.

I contested a, in my opinion, mis-description 3 or so years ago through the CAB, the dealership were fully covered by their proviso as I expect the Skoda dealership would be.

Personally I believe the mobile app is superior to the PID anyway.

My wife's Citigo was registered on 30th September 2016 and has the PID, although it wouldn't work when we first got the car. Had to do a full factory reset before it sprang into life. Should have been done by the dealer but they only found the PID on the day we collected the car and we were told it would work OK once it had sufficient charge. Needless to say, it didn't until I hooked it up to the PC and reset it. Also updated the maps from the GPSpower website (see separate thread)
