Faulty cruise control on MK I Superb

Featured Replies

Hi,

My MK I has developed a consistent fault now where I cant set or activate the Cruise control with the buttons on the stearing wheel.

I was reading and people mentioned getting contact cleaner to use on the indicator stick  as that's where the master on/off switch is. They mentioned some how it can be disassembled without taking the stick off completely?

One post I seem to recall reading mentioned a pdf which had the guide to it but I can't find anywhere that's still hosting it!

I can't find the posts on my phone but another one pointed to a German site that guided you through it. Unfortunately the site is no longer online but I found an archive of it (I put it into Google translate). The archive talks about it but doesn't include the pictures unfortunately.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Are your brake and clutch switch working? Worth checking.

Seconded as that is the usual failure. If brake or clutch switch think they are activated the cruise control is designed to disengage (and obviously will not re-engage)

Thanks for the responses.

I've physically checked my brake lights and they aren't on constantly. I have lifted both pedals to make sure they arent sticking but with no luck.

I believe I will need to get a VAG diagnostics tool to check on to see if the computer thinks it's acutally engaged right?

Unless there is another way to check this?

CJ, have you found the clutch & brake micro-switch locations, if so you can try a bit of contact cleaner on them?
