Emission rollback

Featured Replies

Hi I’m looking to have emission rollback done on my Skoda superb 2.0 tri 170bhp 2013.

Anyone in forum can do this? Or any advice or contact number for anyone who can do it please.

i live in Manchester.

i did try shark performance dealers around me but non of them can do it.

any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, silver and yes shark have been taken over by some racing performance UK.

Ah, OK.

I typed in "EA189 Emissions roll back Manchester" into Google. Got a few hits for companies that will do it, but none around your neck of the woods I'm afraid.

You might be better ringing around some local, well regarded tuners and ask if they can do it, they might not advertise the fact that they can do it online.

Why do you want it rolling back, are you having issues?

I had the fix done last year and was fearing the worst, but didn't notice any change other than a few more initial regens of the DPF which have since settled down.

Well, apparently I am not having any issue apart from too often regeneration process which I believe take more fuel and may reduce egr life.

One of my friend done it and he said it does make difference on fuel and overall driving as well.

Personally, I damn have no idea how it's works lol.

If I call any local tuner what should I ask him as I'm not technical about automotive so dnr know exactly what software version they will.instll to rollback, I just do not want anyone mess with my can ecu so I think it's better to know before I get it done lol

When did you have the fix installed?

As mentioned, my Superb performed more regenerations of the DPF in the weeks after the fix was implemented, but things soon settled back down to normal.

If anything my fuel economy improved after the fix.

The other benefit is that for those who have the fix installed, Skoda UK offer a two year, 160,000 mile parts and labour warranty for most fuel and emissions system related components, they call it their 'trust building measure'...

My EGR failed shortly after the fix, but was repaired for free. You might be better leaving the fix in place.

My Superb has never driven better, and it's 8 years old with almost 160,000 miles on the clock.

I have bought this car for about three weeks before and it has one owner with full Skoda service history till January 2017 from 2017 till three weeks before it has a local garage histiry, therefore I assume fix has been done a year or two before or may be before that.

Problem is I do mostly local mileage as I'm security solution provider and sometimes regeneration still in process when I start my car in morning.

I have took it on motorway to give good blast but still same mostly in registration process and it take more fuel while its in regen process, I do not mind if it does after some breaks.

Also I do not know if you can answer this problem, sometimes I do feel very little misfire while car is in parking or in N. Engine rmp does not move. I can feel it has little vibration, do you think it's because of dpf registration?

You should buy OBD II Bluetooth dongle and install VAG DPF app - it will let you monitor regens.

RPMs can be a bit higher right now due to cold weather.

Jafo can you please advice me any good obd all dongle thanks

Does vag dpf available for iOS?

Bellman's Auto Electronic Services in Sheffield offer the rollback service (search for them on fakebook) or search out the fb group 'VAG Emissions Update Removal', the members there should be able to point you to someone closer.

Type your VIN in here, this way you'll know for sure if the EA189 fix has been applied to your car or not...

The high RPM / tickover first thing in the morning is not related to your DPF. One of the prerequisites on the MkII Superb's DPF for a regeneration is the car being up to operating temperature. The high RPM from a cold start will be related to either high electrical load, or more likely the car trying to warm up as quickly as possible in order to satisfy the demands of the Climatronic system.

If you haven't had the amber DPF warning light appear on the dash then let the car do its thing.

I had the update done on my car recently and wrote about it here:

Any EGR issues will surface pretty quickly after the update has been done. The update increases EGR flow, requiring the valve to open wider and if it's gunked up and can't open wide enough it'll register a fault. From what I've seen around this forum, the dealers seem to have been quite good at honoring the Trust Building Measure on these so far. If the car is functioning ok now I'd leave it be.

I use Carista and the paid VAG DPF to monitor regens, been doing this for a couple of years and generally always manage to plan an active regen to suit a journey rather than stopping mid-regen.

I run a fix file (9978) as this was applied by the dealer before I bought the car, no engine problems as yet in 30k miles and two years of ownership. I get a regen every 250 miles or so and around 42MPG with my 4x4 Superb.

I thought about getting a rollback but as the car runs well I figured I would leave it for the moment.

The facebook page EA189 Fix Reversal Assistance is the page you want to look at, the group files are excellent and very informative.  Assuming what is reported is true, the fix file I am running was just before VAG started messing around with the EGR operation so perhaps I may not be as badly affected as later fix files....time will tell !  I am now out of TBM so whatever happens will happen lol....

VAG-DPF on Android works well for me. Not sure whether it is available for IOS. My OBD II dongle is a WiFi Vgate iCar2.

I'm getting more in this cold weather for sure. 1.6 CR btw. I'm not worried about it.

Another vote for Bellman's in Sheffield. Took my "fixed" CR 140 manual combi for the rollback last week. No drama or fuss and an hour later it's sorted. Now running it's original 5265 file as printed on the engine control unit. It's running sweeter already but time will tell if there are any of the reported mpg improvements or longer intervals between regens.

Chris knows his subject and has the knowledge .experience and tools invaluable to solve problems.

Now to order some Archoil treatment and get the oil and filter changed.
