Bolero Update?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, just picked up my 'second user' Octavia 2.0 TDI SE which was registered on July 12th 2015.  The Infotainment system does not have either Smartlink or Android Auto functionality.  Do I have any options please?  Does anyone have a 'spare' Bolero which they no longer need?  Can a i purchase one from a dealer (Approximate cost?)  Either way I presume that some re-coding would be required?  I apologise for so many questions, but I would like to use my galaxy S7 as a Sat Nav and display this on the Bolero unit.  I don't like the idea of a suction cupped phone holder with it's associated power cable draped over my dashboard - However, depending upon your responses, I may have to settle for this scenario!

Thanks and kind regards, Alan

You would need to upgrade to a MIB2 unit and change the screen and USB port. I recommend going for an Amundsen because if you are going to go to the trouble, you may as well get one with nav because it’s no more expensive so look for a 5E0035874A Amundsen and a 5Q0035726E USB. If you do that you’ll need a FAKRA GPS antenna, available on eBay for £6-10. You have a choice of screen, either the 6.5 inch screen that came with the Amundsen (5E0919605J), the 8 inch PFL Columbus screen (5E0919606) or the 8 inch FL glass panel Amundsen screen (5E0919605M). The radio will need CP removal at a dealer and then will need to be sent away for coding. I have used, and always recommend member pab567 on here for coding. He is a genius! All in cost with an 8 inch screen you are looking at about £5-700 depending on what you get and where you get it. With a smaller screen, it’ll be a bit less.

Hi Sasha, thanks for the information - wow, that's more than I want to spend!  Looks like its will be the sucker on the windscreen then!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, you will struggle to do it under £400 even with a 6.5 inch screen. The SmartLink activation on a car that is capable of running it but doesn’t have it already activated is £137 anyway so in those terms it’s not bad. My MIB2.5 Columbus was a lot more than that and I would not have upgraded were it not for the virtual cockpit. The Amundsen is that good IMO, and SmartLink really makes it.
