if you are just replacing the speaker with one of a similar RMS in the same canton box then you should be ok but what would be the point in that?

Yeah wondered same thing but got answer regarding LC2i Pro with the woofer wires as I answered on my thread.

  • ive got a build thread explaining the LC2/7i you can use a standard VAG ISO harness for the output to the LC2i

  • It was very easy to splice in, used to be a car audio and alarm fitter in the 90’s so can still solder!!   And yes the harness recommend above was wrong, mine is an 18 MY which could be why,

Installed one of the Kenwoods under the driver's seat at the weekend. Huge difference to the sound and well worth while for not much money.

Bought the adapter too but not sure really worthwhile other than to make sure no changes or cutting into the original car's system. It's a tight squeeze to get it in. If I was doing it again, think I'd just tap into the original speaker cables TBH. But does allow you to get all the wiring done and tested on the bench rather than under the dash, so then it's just plug and play.

You need to cut into the speaker cables on the adapter anyway - I just used T-taps.

Hardest part is disconnecting the lock on the glovebox to release it!

Couple of hours to wire and fit.

Anyway, thanks for the pointers on the thread here, helped a lot, and well worthwhile.

I've replaced the door speakers with JBL's and fitted a Pioneer SubWoofer under the front passenger seat; the sound is now crisp and clear and the SubWoofer adds depth (and bass when required).

The 160W Pioneer is similar to the Kenwood, and I managed to get it in under the seat even with electric seats!

Very pleased with the sound.

So basically this subwoofer can be connected straight to a car speakers output and it will work just fine when music is on max. volume ? Just wondering if the subwoofer Kenwood KSC-SW11 has a high/low filter build in. According to the schematic it should be connected right to the speakers.

Yes, you can wire/connect it directly to the existing speaker cables. Or use an adapter plug (but still needs tapping to the speaker cables, just on the adapter cables instead, so completely reversible if needed).

Gain, crossover frequency and phase are adjustable.

I'd not wind the existing system up to max volume, but it's quite fine at 75-80%  😁

Holy Thread revival!!!🤣

As Im a Cheap bugger Im rather alarmed with some of the suggestions on how to fit a sub to standard VRS head unit.

I thought I could just splice into speaker wiring  and use as a feed for amp and SUB????

I have the opportunity to pick up a amp and decent speaker in a custom boot box for a V low price and was hoping to just be able to do as above and provide a switched live feed.

Is this not an option?

Im not going to bother with a sub if ive got to spend a bomb to fit one

The Kenwood sub is a perfect fit under the passenger seat with no modification needed and still allowing a full range of seat movement.

Could you please tell me if im  mistaken:

Want to add the Kenwood to my Superb Mk3 2015, stock system.

1. Buying LC2ipro and Kenwood

2. Connect LC2ipro to Front or Back Speakers ( not sure if matter and which one)

3. Connect LC2ipro with Kenwood

4. Connect Kenwood power to fuse box and another cable for signal.

I see is mention dps but as im student i cant afford this, LC2i seems not to expensive but not sure if that can work as front speakers will be connect only to HU and not powered by amp.
