Privacy Glass / Sunset Glass

Featured Replies

For those with an MY19 Hatch and said glass fitted, is this also applied to the rear hatch window?

If so, is it the same density as the rear-side windows? The configurator is not exactly clear (no pun intended :) )

I would be more concerned about how easy it is for a thief to break in any car because of glass fragility. Privacy glass will not help. Thieves will not see inside and will break in thinking there is something valuable to steal. Think.

I was not asking because I am worried about thieves. I just wanted to know if the rear window was also tinted in the option and to what degree,

I have an MY18 Sportline, that comes with sunset glass as standard. The rear windows and rear screen are both tinted, and look to be by similar amounts.

I have not had a light meter on them or anything, but it’s certainly not made me think in anyway that they’re not tinted the same. They look great! :)

Great, thanks for the info.

Sunset privacy glass on all Skoda's is on all glazed areas from the B-Pillar back (excluding the sunroof)...

Privacy glass does not make the glass more 'fragile'.

For every thief that follows your logic, there will be another ten that, by not being able to see the vehicle contents, will simply move on to the next car where they can.

+1

The idea is not to make the car more secure, but to keep things out of sight, so the opportunist scum thief will move on to a car where they can see valuables left in a car, personally if I have to leave ANYTHING inside a car then it goes into the boot out of sight (just make sure you put it in the boot BEFORE you park / leave the car!

Rear hatch window is tinted same as the rear windows, at least it appears that way.....

I have Elegance trim with SunSet option (tinted glasses strating from B -pillar). For me it feeled that rear hatch window did not have same tint amount, it was lighter than rear doors windows. Therefore I applied extra window tinting. Even form the picture posted JR RS it looks bit lighter for me.

My MY18 SEL appears to have similar density privacy glass in the hatch as the rear doors, might be a bit lighter though. Difficult to judge looking at my car in the garage.

Not relevent to your question but wife's car has aftermarket tints, about to get the same to my car in the background. Think they suit the car really well.

A superb driveway :D

tint looks good.

Nah a proper driveway has both an entrance and an exit, combined with standing room for several horseless carriages to disgorge their passengers at the steps to the big house, however where ever you live it's a good idea to ensure the gravel goes right around the house to make sure anyone approaching is heard - great tip I had from family in the Midlands.

Anyone with an Estate with sunset glass care to confirm that the rear passenger windows are darker than the boot glass and quarters.

Mine definitely is, and very noticeable from inside.

Just wondered if this is normal.

Snap. The door and boot glass is made by Saint Gobain whereas AGC has the quarters so I can understand that difference (although I think it's poor form by skoda).

The boot does look lighter, but on the Saint Gobain website the light transmission for tinted glass jumps from 15 to 35 and don't think the change is that much.

Agree, poor form.

I'm concidering getting a tint to "correct" this error, as I can't unsee it now.
