Part number help S2 Combi

Featured Replies

All

I tried TPS today got an exploded diagram on email and I can’t find all the parts to replace the eccentric bushes on the rear of the S2 combi

We concurred part 12 and 9 the nut and the washer with the extra bit that locks to the car.

The bush that’s in the arm and bolt we could not locate. Apparently 8 is not suitable for my car  Basically I require everything for each arm to locate it to the centre of my car that allows adjustment when aligning suspension. I got all this for the Octy2 when I had the same issues of the bush being seized preventing adjustment. Thanks in advance.

There are two eccentric bolts in the rear suspension setup. In that diagram they are numbers 10 & 11, with parts 9 & 12 being the nut and washer for each. Replacing either will require an alignment check. The nuts must be replaced after removal but the bolts and washers can be reused.

Lol of course that’s them now I zoomed in. So one of each of them. Plus 2 lots of 9&12 ?

assuming I can’t reuse some of the non replaceable ones. Thanks.

How about the bush in the arms, any idea ?

I count 5 bushes - which ones are you talking about, and what do want to know about them?

In arm 7 I neeed to replace the 9,12&10/11. But there is a bush that 10/11 go through. I believe the 10/11 bolts seize in the bush and needs to be replaced for that reason. This is what my alignment fella told me on the Octy 2 and I had it done. And mentioned it on the S2 last year in readiness for any future alignment as they are seizing up.

When I done mine the bolts were seized into the bush so could,nt adjust the camber had to get the 9 inch grinder out to remove:rolleyes:
I replaced mine with Powerflex bushes to stop the problem the next time as they have separate metal spacer
Cant find my receipt for them from Euro Carparts for the part number.

The Powerflex bushes were slightly dearer than parts from TPS

The bushes for the two eccentric bolts are numbers 8 & 15.

Rusted bolts are a continual problem in suspension. On my B5 Passat the pinch bolt at the top of the upright on both sides was rusted so badly I had to drill them out, after snapping one of the heads off trying to get them to move.

I'd suggest putting some copper grease on the bolts when inserting them this time around to help prevent them from rusting and seizing.

@DEL80Y I will standby for another one of your mods when you get the info. Make a balancing act vs @chimaera guiding me to the VAG part.

That’s what I thought he kept saying 8 not applicable to my car though. Copper grease idea thanks for that. I don’t want them to go again either.

Well it seems I am swayed to Poly bush as TPS only supply the bush I need as part of the whole wishbone arm. They have the bolt/nut and washer of course. With an arm at £100+vat. Quite a lot of money. Bushes plus TPS bits £24x2+42 works out less. Half the cost there.

You can get the bush separate from the likes of Autodoc and any good part supplier (Dingbro) etc
But the price ECP were doing the upgraded bush it was a win win in my case
I am going to keep the car till they BAN diesels:devil:

Thanks @DEL80Y, maybe that’s what my mechanic did on my Octy2 when they were replaced. All I remember was the arms/wishbones were removed from the car to bush press the old ones out and maybe drive the new ones in. Personally I notice all my cars being high speed motorway ones suffer with corrosion underneath and other places on the body itself after high miles. The S2 has only done this with me since 85k now 125k. Here I am again with the same bushes on the rear. Are some people cutting bushes out in situ?

You can't do them in situ you need to press the old ones out.

But you can hand fit the powerflex ones back in.

Thanks Del, thought I may save him a job with some alternative method.
