18” Geminis refurb colour options

Featured Replies

Hi all, your advice needed please.

Having recently bought Mrs Dunc a Golf TSI 1.4 GT DSG 150, I now get the vRS (220 Estate on 18s) back to myself.

The wheels need a refurb. I’m thinking one colour rather than re-doing the diamond cut look.

I can’t decide between silver, the same grey as the spokes are now, or a darker grey.

Your views and thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Dunc

Black!

I had a feeling that would be one of the early suggestions. It would certainly match the black pack and Pano, but just think it might be a bit much!

I’m sure you won’t be alone in that view TheWanderer!

Someone got theirs refurbished black with the diamond cut face. They look great. I appreciate that doesn’t quite fit the requirement though.

Thanks!  Still open to all suggestions- hence the question I guess.

Red.  A rich dark red to compliment the brake lights.

....... Or black.

Brake dust colour, saves washing them..................

Or wait till they get really bad and loads of scuffs/corrosion and get them laquered for that rat look.

@JohnnyType2 that was, and the best option IMO.

All one colour will look a bit aftermarket I reckon. All black loses any definition and you can't make out the wheel style. I have all black winter wheels:

not Gemini's, but you get the idea...

Thanks. These do look good.

Does anyone have a pics of all one colour - i.e. without the diamond cut?

Biased much, but the silver wheels are underrated on the vRS :)

Thanks Sacha. Yes, I am tempted by the bright silver look too. Similar looks good on Mrs Dunc’s Golf too.

All black. But they end up looking grey anyway with all the dirt. B9283290-7970-4DAB-BCC9-A5115A260DCE.thumb.jpeg.0f9e23b77ef40beeb6898efe7ec05d31.jpeg0397A5CE-4080-4BA6-AF9C-08CBDA2BFD09.thumb.jpeg.59bf06361486457c500f47a29b690869.jpeg415ADC25-50E7-4D8E-853B-5E1980CBBE84.thumb.jpeg.49e7f67f0b33395047f10ebf8b92f7a7.jpeg

Black and where the diamond cut would have been have it done white.

2 tone paint job.

Thanks guys. I’m thinking all dark / gun-metal grey might be the shout.

Will post pics once done. Booked in for 11th April.

Ozzy, just what I needed to see - thanks!

The Geminis still look great when all in one colour (i.e. without the diamond cut effect).

All grey for me.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys.

Apologies to divert this-

Someone else on this forum posted a pic of their estate vrs with silver xtremes and he said it came as an option with his new VRS. It was a new one I think?

For the life of me I can’t find that thread or pic. Anyone know what I’m on about?

i am sure his silver was a tad darker but may be wrong.

That would be @CFBScout‘s car. Seeing the silver wheels with the black pack on that car tipped me over the edge to have mine done silver. The diamond sections are still diamond on the OEM ones, but they are not on mine and I don’t think the finish is quite as sparkly.

Yeh these are mine, came standard

Ooh, @CFBScout, white car like mine. Should I go silver??

It’s the future #teamsilverextremes

There are lots of colour options that would look good on a white car there's black but loads of people go that way there the standard grey that looks ok  silver looks good too or you could go gold that would look good and work well with the white
