That picture makes it look like the new reflector section isn't the same height as the existing edge units... and if that's the case, then sorry but it just looks cheap and nasty. Is it like that on the vRS, or are the edge sections smaller as well?

It the same on the hrs

It's the RS original. The thin black lip is the edge of the bar the reflectors sit in. There are small holes (vents) just like in the honeycomb bar that sits on the other models.

Same , but never actually noticed this before

Fitted this to my 2018 velvet red sportline today

It reflects well on you....  ;)

Kenny 212, looks great, how did the fitting go? Did you have to drill holes?

@Kenny212

Did you filed the clips on the reflector or drilled holes into the plate? The former seems a lot less agressive to me...

No need to make holes into your car! Yes, the new bar with the red reflectors doesn't want to 'click in' fully. The reason are the clips of the reflector, which are a little longer then necessary, when clipping into the black bar. However, you really don't have to make any changes to the plate section under the plastic bar. Just shorten slightly (0,5 mm - sharp knife, file) those red clips when they are clipped into the black bar and push the complete bar with the reflectors in place. You don't even have to shorten the clips in the edges -  there's enough space.

@JohnSteedOfSweden

How many clips has the new bar and how many did you filed?

Thanks in advance

there are 5 clips on each reflector, so altogether 10 clips. however, you don't need to shorten the last clip on the side (close to the rear lights) as there is a cutout in the plate section already. you can see it in the picture # 3 where Arkaig dremeled the holes. so only 8 clips to shorten. my advice is to shorten the clips after you attached the reflectors to the plastic underpart, so those are still sharp and go in easy.

@JohnSteedOfSweden

Seems a good advice, better than dremel the plate if you ask me. :)

Thanks a lot man

Just fitted mine and didn’t need to shorten the clips. Literally just clipped the reflectors into the plastic trim/bar and clipped the complete thing in.

When fitting the reflector, do you need to buy the connector bar bit from SS too? They sell the reflector with and without the connector bar but I assumed the new reflector just replaces the grey honeycomb. Can someone who's done it advise please.

As you'll see from this thread, opinion varies, and that's from people who have fitted them themselves.

- Some say buy the connector bar.

- Some say you don't need the bar, you can just shorten the clips on the back of the reflectors.

- Some say you don't need the bar, the reflectors simply replace the honeycomb panel i.e. a direct replacement.

Personally I'd play it safe and go with option 1. Chances are that Skoda have changed the design slightly along the way resulting in different people having different experiences.

Yes I've read the thread and most of the others online about replacing that reflector. I hadn't put two and two together that the issue with the longer clips would be related to the connector bar. I'd be much happier to Dremel the clips down rather than replace another bit of kit. Mine will be a 20 model Kodiaq if anyone else has any knowledge of this.

If you're ordering the parts from a local Skoda dealer, perhaps ask them if you would be able to return the connector bar if it turns out you don't need it?

Possibly not if they've had to order it in especially, but worth an ask.

Just noticed this and wondering now if I can mount some additional reverse lights in that strip...  😉

There is a honeycomb only version which I think is for the Asian market only ?

I suppose it MAY be possible to engineer a solution within the rear reflectors but, I imagine it will be pretty involved !

I wouldn't mind seeing the results if you were to go ahead with it.

A couple of example photo's taken off the internet for you for the honeycomb version.

With kind thanks to Ralf Braumann for the photos, here's hoping this helps clarify fitting:

1. Lever out and then pull slowly backwards:

2. As it is “naked”:

3. Mark holes for clips, drill holes and mill out with Dremel or similar:

4.  Protective bar complete with the 2 reflector halves - total fitting time about 30mins:

Thanks for the original post Arkaig, and now this explanatory set of pictures from Ralf ..
I have seen the full width reflective strip many times on other models since getting my Kodiaq and always wondered about the difference, and ease of change to the bitty cheap looking plastic honeycomb piece..
Never having owned any kind of up to date or modern vehicle, I find myself drawn to carrying out this mod on my own 2019 Kodiaq ..
It really does look so much better ..

Hi,

Also thinking about installing the reflective strip from Kodiaq RS on my MY2022 Kodiaq.

Is it the same P/N for both non-FL and FL versions?

No, i will check The Number later

Hi,

Just had a quotation from my local dealer this morning. I discovered the center reflector bar is now in 2 parts for FL version with these both P/N:

565945103A & 565945104A.

@Lori_J7 and @Arkaig did you have thèse 2 parts for the center bar too?

TIA.
