A friend of mine own Skoda Felicia with 1.3 engine.

He want to upgrade the engine and asks about installing the 1.6 SR engine in it instead of the AEE engine.

Is it possible?

It is possible but not an easy job. It all depends of how much money and time you got. Also you need access to a well equipped workshop that has various tools and machines.

It is possible, I've seen 2.0 16V (which is same construction family) mated to Felicia gearbox, and using AEE engine mount but I think that it'll requie atleast custom adaptor plate. Felicia used Polo 6N engines, so those are relatively easy to fit.

 

Look at this thread. If I'm not mistaken, 1.6SR engine is same block as 2.0. It's possible to fit it into factory mounts and Felicia gearbox with diesel adaptor plate, which makes it quite easy, but there are some issues caused by different orientation.
