DSG servicing

Featured Replies

Hi

I had an email from main dealer saying my Superb 2016 diesel would be due for a DSG service which linked to Skoda website indicating an oil and filter change.

My mileage Is 39k at the moment. Being a Motor tech in a previous lifetime I looked into how it was done to decided if I would do it myself as I am a bit limited due to disabilities.

I have spoken with a VW dealer who has told me I only need the oil changing at a cost of £149. Filter replacement at 80k. I don’t mind changing the filter now as it’s only the cost of the filter and £12 for the bent spanner to remove filter without battery removal.

Can anyone confirm the DSG oil only change at 40k is correct.

Yes every 40k miles is correct.

@tjxkeith1 if you have 4x4 then you should have also had the Haldex oil changed at 20k.  Wasn't sure from your profile whether 4x4 or not :)

Don't mean to confuse things but don't the 6 speed and 7 speed DSG have different service regimes?

Can anyone clarify what they both are?

It’s a 6 speed.

So that’s filter change as well at 40k.

Thanks for that have updated profile.

If it’s over 3 years old then I think it qualifies for a reduction in price for this.   Had my Jan 16 L&K DSG done recently for £125 at my local dealer (oil and filter changed).

@unclerichy

Where did you get this Haldex Service interval at 20,000 miles from.

It was 3 years / 30,000 miles with VW and Skoda in the UK after they eventually got their acts together, not that all Main Dealers Service Desk or Workshop Techs are together on it.

@Steviedakota

6 & 7 speed wet clutch DSG do not have different Service Guidelines / Schedules, they are @ 40,000 miles. VW, Skoda, SEAT & 38,000 miles when Audi cal them a s-tronic!!   But they are a DSG, they like to think they are special.

DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG have no Service Guidelines / Schedule / Interval for oil  changes, Sealed for life and can have oil changed and some do even when Main Dealers might say the can not.  Even those that have changed oil in a DQ200 during Service Campaigns, and repair work.

@daveb99

Skoda UK have a Fixed Price for 3-10 year old cars on fixed services. & that is £69 for Haldex & £179 at participating dealers.

A DSG serviced for £125 is good.

I hope they actually did it.

?

How much was the Haldex Service?

My mistake, it was £179, not £125, don’t know where I got that from!

No Haldex on mine, it’s FWD.

Apparently dealer haldex service does not include cleaning of the filter. Just oil change. I'd spend a bit more at a specialist to have the filter cleaned too. Seen pictures of it clogged with gunk, pretty scary. My 280 is coming u too 3 years old this year and I plan to just do the haldex service even though mileage will probably be under 20k.

At risk of repeating earlier haldex discussions I had my haldex oil changed at 2 years but 49000 miles on a 280 ( not my mileage!) . Worried by the pictures of black glooped up filters on vw and audi forums. Mechanics reluctant to open up the pump to clean the filter, there are O rings that can be damaged apparently. He offered to take pictures of the draining oil and woukd get back to me if it was horrible. It was clear / straw coloured so i was happy its all clean inside still.

You're probably right - Skoda UK sent me a mail to remind me that my '4x4' needed servicing (all rather vague so they could have just meant my car for all I knew) which the dealer had failed to mention when booking in a week before.  It probably was 3 years/30k which coincided with 3 years/20k on my car.

Spot on @Chazzy

Had my 280 serviced by an indi in Feb, wanted the haldex oil changed and filter cleaned, car at 16k miles and 2 years old.

Indi master technician said oil was new and did not want to pull the pump out to check in case of leakage etc.  He said had it been dirty he would have but oil came out was the same as the new he put in.

Next year I shall have the DSG and rear diff oil replaced as preventive maintenance.  This is a long term keeper car for me.  Unless I can afford an RS4 or E63s estate I can't imagine anything else to be honest.  Love this car.

How much should DSG oil change on its own cost?

About £200 at a Skoda dealer, cheaper at an Indy.:o

£179 & Participating Main Dealers under the Skoda UK fixed servicing prices.

Thanks, was expecting that!
