For this I'm mainly going back to my previous suggestions of Renault Captur/Dacia Duster/Toyota C-HR/3008 plus a Seat Arona (not sure what counts as group R without checking).

Wow first guess is spot on... Seat Arona 1.0 115bhp Style manual in black over dark metallic blue. I'd argue that it's a size below what I ordered as I was quoted for a Peugeot 2008 which is 200mm longer but we squeezed the cases in ok and it's been a good little run around with far better tech than the Leon I had a couple of years ago.

I'm actually glad it's small as some of the underground car parks in Spain are incredibly tight with just a few inches either side of it on the ramps.

  • Part two. Having rejected the Haval we waited for 1/4 hour and were presented with a Toyota Corolla Cross, these are probably, along with the Toyota's mentioned earlier by Gaz, one of the most common

As you were in Spain there was a good chance Seat would be available, and the Arona is assembled in Martorell.

Missus mac is on her second auto Arona.

It’s not a bad car for what it is. I just wish manufacturers would get off the “compact SUV” bandwagon. It isn’t really any bigger than a focus, just a bit puffier on the outside.

Yeah it's done the job and seems a decent drive... I just expected to sit a bit higher in it but really as you say it's just a slightly inflated ibiza
