Octavia mkiii towbar

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking to have a removable towbar fitted to my 2015 plate Mk3 Octavia.  I have had a few quotes for a detachable swan neck towbar, which include 13 pin electrics and a dedicated replacement wiring harness with coding.  According to the 'Blurb' the Witter version requires a non-visible bumper cut whilst a WestFalia leaves a visible bumper cut.  My question is, just how visible is the WestFalia bumper cut and which is the most popular (Best?) fully integrated towbar please?

Cheers

Alan

Westfalia should be OK and the cut not too noticeable. According to this forum Westfalia is the OEM towbar manufacturer for Octavia.

Hi again, thanks for your help, I have now had the Westfalia detachable towing system installed including 13 pin dedicated electrics (Vehicle has been coded).

Once home, I plugged the VCDS cable and cleared a CAN Gateway Bus error regarding the installation of new components.  I also noted that there was a new entry for Address 69 Trailer and that bit 4-7 was set to Partial Network Operation NOT Active.  Should this be ACTIVE to help with CAN Bus power saving, or is it set this way because the towbar electrics have been retro-fitted please?

Cheers

Alan

No idea, did they give you any of the blurb that came with the towbar?  When I fitted my Westfalia to my Oct 2 it stated all the values that needed to be programmed in the back of the fitting instructions - could be worth checking

Hi, no, the blurb was only for the physical installation and use of a removable tow ball!  Cheers, Alan
