Evening all and hello,

Firstly, let me apologise for my ignorance in technical matters

I am looking for some assistance and advice on the stereo in my newly purchased (and first) Skoda Octavia 2012 VRS 2.0D.

I love everything about the car with one small exception, it has no bluetooth capability! I knew this after my test drive but loved the drive so much i just had to have it and thought i would work this problem out later.....

It is now later and i was wondering if anyone could advise if i could take the Pioneer DEH-X6600DAB Car CD DAB Stereo DAB+ i retrofitted in my last car (Audi A3 2007) and put it into the Octavia? My thinking is that it would give me everything i needed, but i then lose my reversing thingmy! So would i be better buying another Skoda stereo from Gumtree/scrapyard and if i did this would it be a simple plug and play option?

Any help would be gratefully accepted.:)

Assuming the current headunit is stock, you can just add a BT module + wiring kit to get hands free support and streaming music.

You should be able to use the Pioneer DEH-X6600DAB but you'll need:

- single din facia (not sure if they exist, double din vesions do and I think they are ugly :tongueout:)

- quadlock to iso to pioneer wiring loom

- Fakra adaptors for the antennas

- possibly a DAB antenna?

- CAN-bus decoder or to run a switched live from the fuse box

Personally, I'd go for the first option assuming your happy with the existing headunit.

Thanks Langers2k, that’s really informative:D

Yeah I’m happy with the stock unit it looks cool and is easy to operate. I already have the single din facial plate in my Audi and it looks okay, also have the DAB antenna for it but thought the pioneer looks good in the older Audi I agree that it like look like less of a good match in the cool new Octavia.

When you mention BT module, do you mean like a “Parrot” device or similar? Or is there a specific plug n play device that I could fit?

You can add a Parrot or other aftermarket BT kit but personally, I'd be looking to add an original VAG/Skoda BT module so it integrates with the stereo.

At a guess, you'd probably need these:

There are quite a few different modules that have been made of the years so it'll depend on what equipment your car has to which is the 'best' fit.

- What headunit do you have?

- Do you have a MFSW (multi function steering wheel)?

- Standard cluster or Maxidot cluster? See here for pictures of both.

At a guess:

- Bolero (no satnav)

- Standard wheel without buttons

- Standard cluster

In which case, a module like the one I posted is probably correct. The only this to check is the Bolero version, older Blaupunkt (1Z0 035 156 F) has issues with more recent BT modules. On a 2012 you're more likely to have the newer Delphi (1Z0 035 156 M) version which should be fine. It should be printed on a sticker stuck to the unit.

After fitting, you should have the car re-coded with VCDS or similar to make sure everything is correct :)

Hiya,

Thanks again for all this awesome info  B)After careful reading (the exact door open showing) I have maxidot with MFSW and bolero with reversing radar and no satnav. I’ll need to google how to remove the head unit to confirm what kind now. When you mention the recoding with vcds, is that done by a dealer?  When I confirm the exact Bolero model I’ll let you know.

Morning, after a week away I’ve managed to get my hands on a plastic pry tool and a T20 screwdriver to get the stereo out and I have the not so good version! So I’m guessing this will be an issue now
